A letter from Oct 10th, 2021

Time Travelling — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, I've been reading a bunch of letters from futureme.org. When I read the epilogues, it seems as if almost everyone is in a better place now. I hope it's like that for you too. Right now, life isn't too bad. I just went down to 20 mg of Prozac. Are you off your medication yet? There's a cute boy in my Honors English class named Jamen. Knowing me, it's not going to last very long, but tell me how it was. How's your back? And your knees? Any better or still having problems? Did you make varsity in 11th grade? You're probably in college now. What are you studying? Are you still interested in psychology? Where are you at? Did you get into Rice? I have so many questions for you. I wish you could tell me how it all turns out. I wish you could tell me what to do and what not to, what relationships to pursue, what to learn about. Do you still like to read and write? Writing has gotten me through a lot of hard times. I hope you kept all your old journals. I know it might be sad to look back at, but I want you to remember the past. Please tell me that God is still in your life. He's helped you a lot, and you really owe Him. You've left the youth group by now, but do you still keep in touch with Keani? How's she doing? How's your mental health? Have you made it to the "other side" yet? Right now, I'm doing okay for the most part, but still feel kind of ****** about yourself. I'm insecure in an odd way. I always need people to reassure me. I'm in some kind of weird in-between space where I want to take care of myself but also don't. I want to want to get better. I hope that someone helps you out with that. Maybe its Meighan or Mom or Keani or someone else. If you're not better yet, please keep trying. Right now, I can't imagine a life where I don't worry about how I look, or my weight, or if I'm good enough or not. I hope you can imagine that. I hope you're living like that. Do you have a dog? How's Buddy? I hope he is still doing well. Don't forget about him. I love him so much, and he deserves all the love in the world. How's Peyton and Britynn? Peyton should be 18 by now, and Britynn 16. Wow... that's hard to picture. They'll both be older than I am now. What kind of lessons have you learned in the past 5 years? How was the rest of high school? What was your GPA? Do you still care about academics? I promised myself I'd stop caring so much about my grades after high school. Are you keeping that promise? Don't stress yourself out too much. In the real world, people care about the degree, not the grades. My best friend right now is Mackenzy. Do you still talk to her? I really hope you do. I'm not sure what else to write about. I don't know what you'll care about 5 years from now. I hope you will appreciate this. I know that if I got a letter from my past self now, I would love it. I'm going to end this letter year; I've written about a page and I think I'm done. Write me back! Love Always, Avery
