A letter from Sep 22nd, 2021

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

So did you finally figure **** out? Kidding. This is probably not what you'd want to be greeted with by your 18-year old self. And you'd probably hate that you were ever this way by the time that you're, well, you. All that aside. Here's a refresher of where I am at this point in time. Just took a gap year because I made the dumb decision of applying to only a few colleges. I mean, we got into like all but one of them. We didn't get the scholarships, though. That's kind of the reason why you decided to pass on college this year. Plus, covid really ****** up our results dude, with the admissions processes being rigged and stuff (not my words). For real though, the whole rejection followed by depression thing that happened. That was an experience idon'treallywannacomebacktoeveragain. I'm really lost with no direction in life. I hope you've figured at least some of it out. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I can't wait to be you. I feel like I'm at this point where the main character gets this motivation and drive to do whatever the **** they want in life, and this part usually gets time-skipped in the movie. I have to live through it though, which sucks. If there was an auto-function I could use, that would be really nice. Maybe this letter is kind of that? When you receive this, it's as if all the things that will have happened within those five years are sandwiched in between the day you wrote this letter and the day you received it. You're probably confused what to do with this sandwich now. You probably forgot why you made a sandwich metaphor. Do what you always do. Eat this metaphorical sandwich and move on. Also go get yourself a grilled cheese right now because you love those. Like open up the food delivery app and order one RIGHT NOW. Please tell me you're dating someone. I mean it's cool if you haven't but I'm pretty sure we aren't THAT undesirable. If we haven't, I hope you aren't desperate. Wait for the right person. Don't do the things we regret back then. Also if you're tempted to do so DON'T come out of the closet. We agreed to stay in here until we're financially stable. Be the loud and proud bisexual mess you are when you're ready to accept the possibility of getting kicked out. Have you made new friends? Are they cool? You've always been the type of person to find the right crowd. If not, then you've probably improved being an independent person. I'm not that right now but well I've been meditating lately and it's working. If you remember to do that then go try it out again. If it still works then **** good for us. By then Lorde will probably have released another album (i'm streaming solar power atm.), Taylor Swift will have completed her versions of each album, LG8 might be out? Who knows what Ariana Grande is doing by then. Also Lil Nas X probably have dropped more bangers by then. If there's one thing consistent about us, it's that we love listening to artists we fancied like 5 years ago or something. This is your reminder to do just that. Say hi to the old friends you think are treating u like **** rn. Are you still friends? I'd hope not, unless they've genuinely changed. Except for those two people who don't feel fake. You know them well. Tell your new friends you love them. P.S. You're probably done with college, please take vocal lessons or acting classes. If all else fails, we can try to fulfill our childhood dream of becoming an actor. Even if it's for the role of an obscure floor wax commercial background character, go do it. Live out this dream for me if you don't have one yet. Sincerely, your past self Enjoy the grilled cheese ;)
