2021.09.19 - Archery Appreciation

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, I wrote a short note today about how archery saved (and still doing so) my life with 3 bullet points but I suddenly came to the realization that last 9/12 was our 7th year since we first shot a bow! That was so fun at our university's archery field huh? We didn't mind the bruises from the countless string slap because we were having so much fun. Since this moment turned out to be more special, I have to write this on FutureMe. :) So by now you're already 33! Woah, great number first of all. :D Do you still shoot? Do you still go to competitions? I don't know how our priorities would change 5 years from now, but past us just wanted to remind you of this grateful feeling we have towards archery: • I've been in a good mood since yesterday's archery practice at the club outdoor range; the weather was PERFECT. I haven't really shot since last Feb and haven't gone on competitions since last year (Thanks, Covid.) I shot 2 weeks ago with Paul H. but it was so dang hot and I didn't really get to focus on shooting since I had to socialize a bit more than I wanted. • I cleaned my room today because I needed floor space for Cygnus (bow). :) I didn't want to pack it up so I can start close distance shooting in the garage for additional practice. Mind you, the floor was filled with boxes from Amazon and other stuff from last job which I never had the motivation and the need to clean. • In the past, archery is what kept us sane from our toxic job. Competitions gave us a reason to keep shooting and keep going. The community also inspired us to be a better person not just in competitions, but also as a human being. :) Writing all these stuff after a week and a half of feeling like a total failure and being lethargic. Mom was really happy to see our cleaned room that she gave us a peck on the cheek. 🤣 She asked me what kind of stuff did I drink/eat that I had this energy/motivation. She asked, "tea, right?" haha. So, all I really wanted to tell you, FutureMe, is if you're not shooting anymore because of priorities, that's okay. But if you're feeling extra down today, maybe you can try flinging some arrows like the good ol' days? However, if you're still shooting, you better have shot Lancaster ShootOff by now!! Just kidding. If you are indeed still shooting, then, all I wanted to say is... keep it up, you're doing a great job. :) Sending you light and love from the past, Shiela 20210919
