Dear Maggie,
i hope to god (who i generally do not believe in) that covid is over. like i will start sobbing in five years if i read this letter and it isn’t over. i hope that i had a good college experience too! friends, potential bridesmaids, maybe a boyfriend? i know i don’t need all of that to be successful though. i hope that i had good co ops and maybe even a solid job now! or am i taking a fifth year? if i stick with data science and bio that will be hard in four years. but i can do it! but i also don’t have to. i hope that this email will reach me in happiness. i hope that each moment of my life helps me build my joy. i am resilient. i am strong. i have overcome kind of a lot for almost 18. obviously some people have it worse but you get my point. no matter where i am in life i hope i remember to pursue joy. there’s still so much i want to know. did you have fun in boston? if you have a job please tell me you’re living somewhere cool. if not, please say you’re planning a trip somewhere cool. it doesn’t have to be expensive or far but, if you’ve worked as hard as i hope to, you deserve a break. on the touchy side of things, have you fully recovered? if you have not done that please take a reality check. that’s now seven years you’ve wasted caring about the least interesting part of you. i hope you prioritized happiness. today is a little less than three weeks before i leave for ireland. i just packed up all of my things (i forgot a few- THE OLLIE PILLOW) and it’s all under weight! i can afford to pack all i need and i’m very happy about that. my skin is sooo clear it’s awesome i hope it stays that way. also i hope i didn’t drink too much in ireland. if i did i hope i still did good in school, it was really important to get good grades for good co ops. but however it turned out i hope that you’re happy. i can only imagine the things i’ve achieved. i am smart, i am capable, i am worthy. but anyways i just hope i had fun but not at a cost. i hope to dear god you have some money left over. financially stable boss ***** paying off debt with the stacks from her larger than minimum wage job. that’s you i hope. my only hope that like needs to happen is that you are not living at home. i mean instead of planning a trip plan a whole entire move out and get an apartment alone please!!!! if you’re not at home who do you live with? what are they like and how did you get to know them? if you don’t have roommates who would you choose to live with if you had to get a roommate. i hope that doesn’t make you cry if you’re at home. i know this email is all over the place but i don’t want to forget anything that i have to say. it’s also 11:33 pm as i’m writing this part i’ll time stamp when i finish writing but i want to know if you get this at the exact time on the exact date. is it august 28,2026? that’s so far away. omg did i ever see sara while i was in ireland!!!!???? i need to know that we’ve met up again. she’s a friend for life. i would invite that girl to my wedding. please tell me you’ve stayed friends. and skyler, i hope she’s great! what’s she doing after college? are we in a similar place? oh and do you have a tattoo? or new piercings? anything cool that you didn’t have five years ago? i hope that you are doing so well.
i love you no matter what you’re doing now,
past maggie
