Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, Right now, you're supposed to be studying for the Philosophy midterm you have tomorrow, but it's so insanely overwhelming that you'd rather do anything else. Everything's been "insanely overwhelming" the last couple of years. I hope you're not as anxious as you were. I hope you don't internalize everyone's problems like I do now. I hope you're not as angry. Anyway, you're taking tennis lessons now, do you still play? Did you ever get any better? Are you in good shape? I know it's something you think about all the time but never say (or type) out loud. Everyone's obsessed with being "THAT girl" but I do kinda hope you are one now. Kind of predictable to ask but is COVID still around? Yesterday was dad's birthday and it's the first time he hasn't gotten a cake to celebrate in 55 years because of the *issues* we're going through now... How did that turn out? Dad's turning 60 today (the day you get this email). Did you get a cake? How's your relationship with our family? I know I don't care about that issue anymore but I feel a lump in my throat and I wanna move on so I don't cry. I actually started writing this because in 5 years you're supposed to be done with your internship year (I think). I hope to God you got that far. I know how stressful and competitive uni is. What will you be specializing in? Earlier this year, I was set on dermatology. Now, it feels too silly. Maybe internal medicine? Also, what are you wearing these days? I have so much trouble finding my style but I do love dressing up just to sit at my desk for online lectures. Sweater vests, button downs, silk scarves. You wanted to read the classics ever since you fell in love with Pride & Prejudice. You've been putting off finishing Emma and Rebecca is just deadly boring. You loved old "films" but only if they're in color. Technicolor is just beautiful. And so is Grace Kelly. This email is public so you probably sound like a wannabe or an imposter to the people reading this. Who cares, right? We're strong. We don't care what anyone thinks because we know who we are and we like that person. I hope you still like who you are. I hope you're me but happier and healthier. I hope you still find joy in the little things. You probably have something to do; maybe cake to eat? I've got an exam to study for. Bye!
