Letter to My Senior Self
Dear Senior Kiara,
Right now, I am a freshman with hopes and dreams to become successful and accomplish the most of what I can during my high school years. There are many things I wish to do with the time I have here, such as maintaining good grades, reaching the required credits as soon as I can, excelling in both academics and sports. I want to achieve as much as I can during my four years.
I live in a two-story home now, with my parents, grandma, and brothers. My bedroom is pretty much empty because I use it to play with my volleyball very often. My house is in a nice neighborhood, with two parks and a small community filled with nice and kind neighbors. I have just one pet now though I’m sure by the time you receive this letter he’ll still be with you. I dress very simple, and I’ve started to act more independent and take over more of my responsibilities now that I am older and now must learn things that never occurred to me as something important.
Currently I’m very invested in sports, specifically volleyball and soccer. I play Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays and I hope to try out and make the school volleyball team at West Point High School. I spend most of my time on my phone or passing the volleyball to my wall repetitively until I get bored. Besides that, I do some of my chores in my room and keep it clean, my weekends are spent with my family at home or going out somewhere alone or with family.
I really admire my volleyball rec teammates and coaches now, they’re strong-willed and fun to be around, and teach me that volleyball is amazing sport and that no matter how many mistakes you make, in the end you learn and recover from those mistakes, even improve. I also admire my school friends, we’ve only known each other for a week but during this first week as freshman they’ve been comfortable and kind to me, no matter how new or difficult this was for some of them.
I was born in Phoenix, where I lived until about four or five years ago which then I had moved to Avondale. Me and my family have remained here since, and have experienced many memorable events, both good and bad. My personal favorite events that I’ve experienced while I’ve spent my time in Avondale is bonding with my volleyball teammates and relatives. I’ve made a lot of friends out of school and have become more social, and open to everyone, which I have them to thank for.
By the time you’ve read this, your high school years are coming to an end. I’m sure that you’ve worked hard and pushed through high school to make the most of your memories and come out happy and successful. I know you must be dreading college and facing the world on your own, especially the thought of what you’re going to do once your education is completed and over. Whatever it is, I’m sure that you can pursue and accomplish whatever your mind comes to, and hope that you become successful in work, life, love, and everything else.
