Dear FutureMe,
Hey you, I hope you’re doing well.
The date this is being written is Friday, 6th August 2021. To many, today is just another day. To you, today is significant. Today you did something that you never thought you’d be able to accomplish - You bought an apartment.
A mortgage.
A homeowner.
You put a deposit down on a property.
It finally happened.
After spending years suffering with your mental health, getting into severe debt, having multiple toxic/abusive relationships, struggling with your *********, dealing with your parent’s divorce.. You still made it through.
As this is being written, you’ve cried 3 times tonight. Not just out of happiness, but out of sadness. Grief. Guilt. Numbness. One of the biggest accomplishments in a person’s life, such an incredible milestone, yet all you can think about is your dad. It’s hard to go from having a parent who was your best friend, to someone who broke your heart and trust and nearly a decade later still doesn’t truly seem to care about how much they’ve hurt you. I know how much you miss him and that’s okay. As much as I know in this past moment you’re hurting and wish more than anything that you could be sharing this news with him, I know that by the time you’re reading this, you’ll be okay.
As you’re reading this in the future, I truly have no idea where life has taken you - Your career, home, friends, family etc - Everything may be entirely different, but all I know is that things will be better. Just continue working to be a better person and stay true to who you are and what you stand for. No matter how often you may doubt yourself, just listen to your inner soul and trust your gut feeling - It’s never failed you.
Thank you for sticking around, even during the times you no longer wanted to be here - I’m so proud of you.
I love you always,
From past me x
