Dear Future Me,
Being the 15 turning 16 year old–Erika Ura-ura that I am at this very moment, I am still on the process of healing myself from the things I don’t talk about. To be specific on what those things are, it is about healing myself mentally, emotionally, and physically from a failed relationship with my first love who said “understand your incapabilities.”
Simple and positive as it may seem, yet it changed the whole game in a negative way. It destroyed my confidence, perspective against myself and that person. I never knew how much it impacted me until I saw myself asking “Naa pajud diay koy kulang? Ka kinsa ko niya na compare? Throughout those times incapabilities rajud iyaa nakita saako?” HAHAHAHA. I know you did your best with what you knew at that time, and I can’t blame you for that. Never forget how much insecurity, anxiety and depression it gave you. Yes, it may not always be sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes, there will always be thunderstorms but learn to embrace them, because that’s where we grow and learn the most. You may not voice out everything, but I’m not that dumb to invalidate what you feel on what bothers you the most. Through it all, you still chose to rise and learn from it. You still chose to be strong and be better for yourself. You must have asked yourself, “How come have you survived it all?” What I knew? It was God all along. Sooner you came to realize, ”You’re too young to be stressing about love. Go live the best life in real life” So I did, and Indeed, I have stepped a few steps onward in life and I am tremendously proud of myself for that small victory and NO ONE could tell me OTHERWISE. Today, I am still growing and aspiring to be someone who is successful.
Now, I suppose you’re already 21 years old, currently studying as a 3rd-year college student, hopefully pursuing the course that you have been dreaming. Wow, oh how times flies. 5 years na ang naka lipas gikan pagsulat nako ani nga letter. You are currently living one of the prayers you used to pray. Reflect on that today. I hope all the sacrifices and hard work that you have exerted throughout your Academic Journey will all be paid off in God’s grace. May it be that you’ll land on a good job, may you spoil mommy, daddy and Kate with your success soon, may you live a good life in accordance to God’s will. May you land into a guy who is exactly a husband-type material who sees your worth and loves you genuinely and most of all, someone who understands that “Date to Marry” is your principle. I don’t have any idea where you are exactly right now, but I hope and pray that you are in good hands. So many people from your past know a version of you that no longer exists anymore. Growth is beautiful.
I hope you didn’t stop putting God at the center of everything. Remember you wouldn’t reach this far without Him. Remember that WE are NOTHING without Him. Claim that you will make a good life for yourself whatever it takes. I hope you still choose yourself no matter the circumstances is. Get that diploma no matter how long it takes. It’s not a race. It’s a matter of fulfilling you dreams. People try to stop you from achieving your dreams because they could not achieve theirs. Do not let them dictate you decisions in life as long as you are not hurting anyone. Focus on your goal, everything else is a background noise. Stay humble & let God keep working on you. Continue to conquer mountains, strong one!! I am rooting for you! ❤️ When you’re at the verge of giving up, I want to remind you that It’s okay to be disappointed with yourself. BUT PLEASE- Don’t be too hard on yourself. Be patient and know there’s a lot of room for improvement. Everyday is a new chance to be a better version of yourself. Leave all your burdens to God. He will take care of it, and he will take care of you. I hope you find peace and comfort in His presence ❤️ Padayon!
Before I end, I want you to be reminded of these verses:
• Matthew 11:28 – "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
• Jeremiah 33:3 – ‘Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.’
• Philippians 4:13 – ‘I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me’
• Luke 1:37 "For with God nothing shall be impossible."
