A letter from Jul 28th, 2021

Dear Erica, It’s me your high school lover as Isis would say. I never liked that but you know that. I guess lover probably is the right way to describe it though because I do love you very much. I believe I always will too. I wonder what you are up to right now. When was the last time we saw each other? Are we still friendly at all? Where did you go to college? Am I famous? I ******* better be. Maybe you are famous. We are in the fort that we built right now. You are right next to me. We are listening to the cassette tape you made me for our six month anniversary. I think I’m getting hot flashes it’s hot under all these blankets. I sure wonder what you are writing in your email to me. I guess I will find out in 5 years. I just started writing in a journal again and I wrote about you. How much I love you and how I’m worried I rely on you too much. I hope you never felt like that. I never understood why you loved me and I don’t right now either. It took me a long time to start believing that you actually do love me. I felt unlovable before I met you but you changed everything. I owe so much to you so I hope you are doing well. I hope Lukas is doing well because I love that little guy. He deserves the world. I hope I made your high school experience a little more bearable with my silly whims because I love telling you all my crazy ideas. I hope you still have all the gifts I’ve gotten you during our time together. Specifically the scarf because I put a lot of love into that. I remember when you went to San Diego for a week in the summer I didn’t know what to do with myself. I needed something to distract me from your absence. So I made that scarf because I missed you so much. I can only imagine what I’ll do while you are away in Sweden. When you read this you should listen to A 1000 Times because that song is so great. The feeling I get when I listen to that song is the same feeling I get when I’m with you. God I love that feeling. Also I have full confidence that you will be doing well when you receive this email because you are one of the strongest and smartest people I know. And for that reason I would like to say…I told you so! High school doesn’t matter except for you. I love you and I always will. My beautiful girl. You are so perfect. Love, Carmen
