A letter from Jul 22nd, 2021

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

22/07/2021 8:47 PM David’s letter to his future self. Hello future me, how’s it going? Hopefully well, your 15 year old self cannot predict the future you know? Are Melaine & Michelle doing well? Yes, the black and white cats! Please say they are, I just love them too much. Procrastination is the key to poverty. Avoiding feelings won’t make you any stronger, and the only way to solve it is to directly face them. Currently I fear change. Fear it deeply. But perhaps you’ve turned into a new leaf, with a new self. The actions made in the past have a great influence on the present and future. Procrastination truly doesn’t think about the future, that means that it doesn’t think about studying for entrance exams like ENEM or to the pile you’ve accumulated of homework that is slowly making you insane and there’s a possibility that you are reading this letter to put off that exact pile and you continue reading this despite knowing that you should go back to work. Don’t do this with yourself! Do it. Teenage years hopefully signified learning and embracing change for you. It’s a rough period, especially being an adolescent on a pandemic, but you learnt so much. You changed so much. You’ve actually quit with this age PMO, internet and game addiction. Imagine how your life would be if you didn’t make the decision before. I could probably not be here, and I’m not saying that I would be doing something else, sadly there’s a possibility that I wouldn’t be living on this earth. Ups and downs are constant and that’s simply how life goes. You cannot control the river of life. Neither is it a good idea to hold on to a branch, or worse, swim against the current. Let go. Let it go. Breathe in and dwell in the present moment, knowing that this is the only moment. Excess, too much effort, too much action are unneeded. Who are the people you are close with? Do they align in some way to how you desire to live? We’ve had our share of really good friends and not so good friends. Names possibly popped up in your head. What about your effort to keep relationships? It 's important! Talking about relationships, did you get one? I think I’ll have to go. I would love to hear the answers but unfortunately I’m on the past hahaha.. It was good talking with you. Perhaps one day you’ll receive another letter from me. Time flies so fast. Before I go, what’s your music taste now? Currently I’m really digging some Tame Impala, Digitalism and punk-rock songs. Do you still like them? Do you remember Burnout 3 and revenge?? They had great songs right? “Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?” ― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching “I was blinded by a memory Like it's someone else, like it wasn't me And there's every chance I'll be learning fast And the day will come and then it will pass..” (Tame Impala - Tomorrow’s Dust) I Wish you the best mate. Farewell. -David
