A letter from Jul 10th, 2021

July 9, 2021 Dear FutureMe, Hi. I am 16 right now, it was just my birthday a couple of weeks ago. It was one of my best birthdays so far, I went to the mall with my friends and we went to Reagans pond and swam with some friends. After that I applied for a job at Safeway and got hired right away. I also have a new car, it’s a 2007 blue jeep. Right now my best friends are Makenna and Reagan. I have some questions for you. Are you still taking your medicine? Are you and Kenners still friends? Did you join the army yet? Is Petey still alive? What job do you have? Did you ever meet grandpa Ken? Did you and Aaron become close again? How’s your parents? Okay well, let me remind you of some stuff in case you forgot. Covid started last year and we’re barley starting to take off our masks right now. We just went through a heat wave. It was awful, it set some records in Oregon. It was like 118 degrees outside, it was also on my birthday weekend and day. I went to a mental hospital last October. Do you remember? Have you gotten better with that stuff? Also how’s petey? Are you living with him right now? Do you remember Maxx? Right now I actually want to name my kid Maxx, if I have any. Oh yeah, do you have a boyfriend yet? I’m staying away from boys right now. Mom and Dad don’t have the best relationship and I don’t want to go through that either. I doubt I’ll have a boyfriend or husband when you get this letter. I don’t really think I’m going to get married. It doesn’t really have anything to do with me being insecure tho. I really don’t think I can find someone who genuinely makes me happy. Even my bestfriend makes me sad sometimes. I know I’m just 16 and when you see this you’ll probably think I sound silly but just remember how you used to feel when mom and dad fought. Remember when we went camping and had to leave early cause my mom freaked out and they wore they were getting a divorce. Not fun. Guys are also just weird. This boy named Conor just came to Colton and he’s been bugging me about dating him. Everyone thinks I’m weird for not having a boyfriend yet I bet. Anyways tho, I’m gonna write more letters.
