Dear FutureMe,
This is the second letter I am writing today, as I wrote one for you to receive in a year. This one will be a little different, though. This is about where we are right now.
We are 25 years old, and well, we are thriving. The day to day gets tough, anxiety rears its head, but all of that aside we are doing really well. Better than we really ever imagined.
Environment -
We are in lockdown in Sydney at the moment. Hence, the spare time to write you this letter. We saw a Pinterest Pin about this website, and here we are. COVID is in the Delta Plus strain, which is supposedly more infectious and contagious. We are still allowed to go our for coffee, for exercise and to see our loved ones. The only real change for you is the working from home. They are slowly rolling out the Pfizer and Astro-Zenica vaccines. You want the Pfizer. Well really, you don't want either. But, if you have to, you want the Pfizer because you've heard the Astro Zenica changes hormones in women.
Health -
Physically, we are great. No ailments, lots of energy and still very fit and strong. We are seeing Nicole, the Chiropractor to help with our mild scoliosis. You haven't been sick in a long time, and you hope you never have to. Aesthetically, you still want to lose weight. It's still a constant battle. You are still struggling with your eating and over-exercising. Marie-Lisa (psych) is on Maternity Leave, so you are seeing Emilia who is doing a good job in the interim. You are counting down the days for Marie-Lisa to return, though. You are struggling with your mental health. The weekly panic attacks have kind of returned. You blame lockdown. You are 100% vegan as of this year and you're really proud of that. You have pretty much mastered having no oil, and are now moving towards a raw diet. You are working on the idea of eating things that are still growing, so you can grow with them (sprouts, Kimchi for probiotics etc).
Relationships -
You are happy in your relationship with Kain. You blame him for a lot of your setbacks and you resent him for holding you back in life. On some level you know it's not his fault, but you resent him anyway. IT is something you are working on. Other than that, you are an adorable couple who love and care for each other very much. You are asking Kain to open up more, as he never brings up issues and you feel a little crazy. You do hope to marry Kain one day, though you hope to be happier with how the rest of your life is going when you do. You want a big, flashy engagement ring though you'll never admit it.
You have a lot of people that love and support you, but you don't have too many friends. You are working on making more friends, or bringing your acquaintances into your circle. It is hard at this age, and it is hard when you're as shy as you re. You are lucky to have Vick and you are grateful for her everyday. She has hurt you in the past but you are on good terms at the moment. You hope you keep this relationship forever.
Spirituality-
You make an effort to meditate every day, and have done for a while. You kind of wish you would get deeper, but you know that having an expectations of your practice is against the spirit of meditation all together.
You are on Module 7 of tMBA (the NEW, 16 week program Kathrin released). You were so excited for this to start, but you're experiencing a lot of resistance now. You'll get through it. Maybe not as thoroughly as you hoped, but you will. You feel the effects of the Module, as we're clearing out a lot of limiting beliefs. It is messy and emotional, but you are doing it.
You've started bringing affirmations, gratitude and vibration music back (again, with the help of Pinterest). You're excited to see where this takes you, as these practices feel so magical.
Work-
You have just helped Kate present the Community Fundraising strategy at The Kids' Cancer Project. You think this means they are gearing up to give you some sort of promotion. Deep down you would like to become Head of Community Fundraising and you see no reason why you shouldn't be. You have your PDP coming up and will see what comes out of that. You are making $70k/year + super (they offered you a 5% raise earlier this year). You think you are worth at least $85k but you're not complaining as you like what you do. You see yourself being more of a leader somewhere and you're staying on the path for that.
You're about to apply for the FIA Mentoring program as a Mentor, which is wildly exciting to think about. You are doubtful you can contribute, but will do it anyway.
You have two other jobs in the works - one at YouthInsearch where you would own the whole fundraising portfolio, and one at Elevate as an account manager. You don't think you'll take either of them, but you'll consider them based on salary.
Other-
You are still on your L's and you've taken a long break from lessons. You aren't really too concerned about it - it's not impacting your everyday life. You're pretty happy with where you are right now, even if some days are taken over by worry. You're not really where you dreamed you would be, but you have a great life you should be proud of. Your hair is a dark, chocolate brown and you're really happy with it. It's the first time the dark colour hasn't washed you out. You have the iPhone XS and you like it, but you're excited for a new one. You are typing this on a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 that you just purchased for the new financial year. It was great timing as you're working from home so much now. You love your Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
In 5 years you will be 30. I know we are terrified of the big milestone, but I know you'll be thriving. Appreciate what you have, because we truly have an amazing life. I love you more than anything.
