A letter from Jun 30th, 2021

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear Future Me, Hello! I hope you are doing well, Priscilla. Today is June 30th, 2021. You are about to wake up to take your final Adult Health II exam for nursing a school. This past year you’ve been taking your accelerated nursing program at Mercer, we’re elected President of your cohort, were a nursing student in the middle of a global pandemic, welcomed a nephew into the world (his name is Atticus and he is the most adorable), and are now about to graduate from your nursing program next month! You are nervous about the NCLEX. You have been offered a job at Emory in Labor and Delivery and are awaiting an offer from Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. You are having trouble deciding between the two, but by now you will have made the decision and will be happily settled into your nursing career. How’s that going for you? Did we make the right choice? You don’t have any kids yet, or a dog. You do love dogs, but have decided with your allergies and your love of a clean house, maybe a dog isn’t the best option right now. You hope to start trying for a child during the fall of this year. By now you probably have at least one child. I bet they are beautiful. Has being a mom changed your outlook on everything? I bet Dan is an amazing Dad. You are at a really big turning point right now and at the beginning of your career in nursing. I hope it is everything you dreamed it would be and more, and that you pass the NCLEX on the first try! By now, you will understand so much more about nursing than your past June 30th, 2021 self. I wonder if you still live in Atlanta. We love it here now and love having friends and family close by. Mom and Dad live in Tennessee now 10 minutes from Victoria. You wish you could see them more, but this past year of nursing school has required you to say “no” to a lot of social and family events. I hope there are more days of “yes” in store for you in the future. Sending love from the past. Priscilla
