Dear Future Me,
You're finally 40 years old. Maybe even a bit older. 41? 42? How does it feel? Are you still doing Jiu Jitsu? Did you ever make it past blue belt? At least tell me you're a brown belt now (Ha!). How are the kids? Do they still want to hang out with you? Do they still call you "Dada"? This past year has been tough with Covid and lockdowns but they've still managed to grow up so fast and smile through it all. Did you ever decide to make the push for admin? Or did you decide that it was just...not the right time? *wink*. If you know, you know. Time is going by so fast, and I'm sure when you receive this, you'll maybe think back to the time you had your Grade 6s work on this Future Letter during Distance Learning. Are you still in the same house? How many properties do you own now? Did you sell the condo? How big is your Instagram following now? Do you still play guitar? Do you still post IG guitar videos on @guitarjot? Good times! What about Warzone? What does that look like these days? I'm sure there is an updated version of it on some new, cutting-edge system...or maybe not. Do you still play it? How many more tattoos do you have now? Are people still overly-sensitive these days? Are people still "woke"? Tell me that's out of fashion now. Did she like the 10-year anniversary ring? How was the celebration at Millcroft? Are you still having fun and enjoying life?
Life must feel different now. Around 33-34 was the time when you really felt at ease with yourself. Liberated and simply free to do what you wanted without a care what others thought. Late-bloomer. At 36, you feel strong in the mind and body. It's how I should have felt in my 20s. Late-bloomer! I can't imagine how freeing 40+ is.
So much changes in 5 years. Looking forward to you seeing this and looking back fondly.
Much love,
The Past You
