Dear FutureMe,
It's 2021 and the COVID-19 pandemic is seeming to slow down. I'm fully vaccinated and living with the parents until school starts up in September. UGH. Did you finish grad school? Is the mound of student debt be worth it? Pray tell, are you happy? Right now, I'm okay. Not completely in love with life, but working to be happier as the days go on. My biggest concerns are my weight, my acne, my GI issues, and my student loans. I tried to get help for my anxiety and depression concerns, but my doctor made it sound like I just need therapy again. Honestly, it's too expensive so I'll likely just hope the sad becomes less noticeable at school.
What are you learning in this season of your life? I'm learning SO much.
1) Saving money can be hard. I know that I can buy the little things (car accessories, clothes, shoes, electronics) but that makes the big things (student loans, travel) less attainable. It's so difficult to see at the moment that the $6 cup of coffee adds up. Pay off those loans AND live your life.
2) Some friends are just not forever friends. Currently, I'm removed from my college friends, both figurative and literal, which is emotionally tolling. BUT, I'm moving to make friends at the new school. New city. Fresh start. Sometimes, all you need is a change of location.
3) Nothing is more important than people. Not money, not fancy cars, not even parties. The world needs to start putting people first. People without homes. People of color. People who immigrate. People who are seeking asylum. People. Do your part to make the world a better place.
I hope you're doing great today, and continue to do better each day.
