A letter from May 28th, 2021

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Date: May 28, 2021 Age: 18 Dear Future Me, I am most proud of myself for coming back and finishing school after my return from military school. This last semester with GHC has been challenging for everyone and myself included. My mother got very ill towards the end and it was hard to concentrate on school and help her at the same time, but overall she is doing much better today and I’m so grateful for that. I’m grateful that the school is letting us walk on stage after everything that has happened during this pandemic. My short term goal for now is to work a part-time job and save up money, then practice to become a pet groomer because I love animals and I can see myself working with them in my future. I’d also like to work on getting my permit and license this summer. I want to remind my future self during my low times to look back at everything I went through to get to where I will be that day. From my parent’s divorce, to failing all my classes, to attending and graduating from military school, to completing high school, and living the most out of life. What I’ve learned from attending school from home was not to take advantage of what’s being handed to you. I’m grateful for every little thing, and I owe it all to the teachers, counselors, family and friends who have supported my mother and I all the way. It’s been quite a long journey and I’m ready to begin my future.
