A letter from May 26th, 2021

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear Jacob, Today is Wednesday, May 26th, 2021. I'm remote learning from home today. I'm so glad we are almost finished with this school year. Man was it a tough one! Learning from home in the middle of a pandemic has been crazy this past year to say the least! At least this year for my 13th birthday I was able to celebrate it with my closest friends, Makayla, Elizabeth, Emma and my cousins Aimsley and Ina. Last year during this time everyone in the US was under mandatory quarantine and most businesses were closed unless they were considered essential. Birthday parties were not considered essential. So yeah, 2021 is turning out to be better so far with mandates of wearing a mask everywhere you go lifting, getting to go school at least four days a week and actually getting to go do things because businesses are opening back up. At least while I was under quarantine I'm lucky enough to live on a small farm. I was able to entertain myself on my four wheeler and play with all my animals. I really enjoyed playing with my goats, Rocky, Forest and Bubbles, she's the princess. My dogs, Bella and Sweetie gave me comfort while we were on lock down. I still had my daily chores of tending to our turkeys and chickens everyday. Today, I checked on our 9 baby chicks and 3 baby turkeys before I started this letter to myself. They are getting so big! Soon they will be big enough to run around with our 2 tom turkeys, 3 hens and our 15 chickens who all lay eggs. Good grief, I'll even more eggs to gather up now, but I do enjoy seeing people smile when I give them fresh eggs. So, I'm writing this letter for it to be emailed back to me in 5 years. I guess I'll be finishing up my senior year in high school at Oak Grove at this time. I also should be an Eagle Scout or close to it by now. I've been in the scouts since 1st grade. Hopefully, I will already know what college I'm going to in the fall so I can start my new journey in life. I'm not sure what college I want to attend yet, but my plan is to be a Park Ranger when I grow up. I wonder, if I will even need to go in person to college when I'm finally old enough. With all the technology now, I've did pretty much my entire 7th grade school year remote from home. So, I can only wonder how advance technology will be in 5 years. BUT first, I plan to enjoy the summer and take a vacation after I graduate for my achievement of finishing school before I go off to college. My advice to myself is, no matter what I do, just "do my best"! That's what mom always tells me. In the boy scouts our motto is always be prepared. So, no matter where my journey leads me, I will be prepared because of all the great things I've been taught by my teachers, mentors and my family. No matter though, I hope I still take the time to enjoy nature shows and some Bill Nye videos. I will always be that little "science nerd kid" no matter how old or big I get. You got this Jacob Wimer!!!!!
