A letter from May 20th, 2021

Dear Future Emmu, Happy Birthday to you :) The day you read this, 5 years will have passed. You'll be an adult, everything must have changed. You'll be Dr. Emmu. Lol. We have known each other for the longest time (10+years) I feel grateful and blessed that I'm able to call you my bestfriend. But. Last few years it was really difficult to stay in touch with you because of college and i remember there was a time we didnt talk for a whole year, and i was really sad thinking we'll drift apart and get busy with our lives. But during that time, i was traveling to college in the metro, i found an empty seat (which rarely happens on a working day in the morning), and quickly sat there. I didnt pay much attention to the girl holding a book sitting next to me. I saw two girls sitting opposite to me greet the person next to me. And i thought woah she's popular and when i looked to see who it was.. it was you. I was so shocked to see you after more than a year, that i didnt care about people around me and shouted, "EMMU????", you looked at me and had the same reaction and said, "ASHIE???" Hahah what a coincidence that was. Its like the universe cant keep us away from each other for too long. 😂 We have both been busy with college but now we try to stay in touch by texting whenever we're free. I don't know if you're still as introverted as you are now, but have fun today, watch a movie in your room with your favourite food or go out and party with your friends, whatever makes you happy. You must be getting reallyy tired because of work, you've always been hardworking. But don't be too hard on yourself. Call me when you're free so we can have a few relaxing selfcare days, where we give each other facials, eat some good food, watch a movie, sing karaoke, just relax and not worry about anything else. No matter how busy you are don't stop doing the things you like (reading, singing..) I wonder if you found a boyfriend yet.. if you did, great! He obviously needs to get approved by me first. But I cannot wait to meet him!! And if you didn't...i think you need to lower your standards and realize fictional characters aren't real 🤷‍♀️ Anyways. You've grown up to be a beautiful, smart, amazing woman. I'm proud of you. (Too cringey or emo? Sorry 😂) Happy birthday once again. Lets celebrate soon. Take care. -20 year old Ashie :)
