Today I got rejected from job application, and I'm upset quite a little.
But I think about this.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who start the highest or fastest.
I think I want to have an interesting life rather than a glorious one. A life which I look back and say "What a life I've lived!"
To do various jobs including fun one and live wildly and loudly. I think in order to live a life like that, I must use my potential to the very best and pay attention to little things. That is, of course, not for the measurable result. It's beyond that. To be prepared for unforeseen opportunity. And I must not tie to illusions in life. It is not to be interesting to other people, but my own definition of interesting. I think about the movie 'A 101-years-old men who skipped out on the bill and disappeared'. I think he has an interesting life in a way that is not necessarily rich or famous. I love how Hank Green live a meaningful life doing what he loves, and he doesn't try to maximize every dollar out of it. He might be lucky, but I don't think it can be pure luck. I always said to my mom, how she started from the same place as others but eventually outrun most of them, that's because she always looks for opportunities. She can't be still or ever stop. Her head calculates things automatically when she see possibility. She isn't afraid to take risk. Date farm or apartment. She looks further than anyone can see. I idolize her a lot in that way.
I have no idea where you are in life right now. Things might not turn out the way you want or vice versa. It might be tougher than ever to pursuit whatever I said above. I always like to leave some room for surprise and self-compassion. Let's just keep it one path of life you might or might not choose to follow. I know, at times, I'm tempted to fame and money. It's sweet, isn't it?
Give 'The Story of Dream' by Enzo a read. You might need it after completely forgotten your favorite book in the drawer.
