Dear FutureMe,
Hello, my friend.
This is a message from the one you used to be 5 years ago. Whatever is going in your life now, I want you to make yourself comfortable for several minutes and read the following with a little bit of nostalgia, proud and motivation.
First of all, I hope you are even more happier father and a husband than me. I believe that your eldest son is about to finish school and your youngest son is in 9th grade. I'm proud of them now in 2021 and I want you to be proud of them even more. I've spent a lot of evenings helping to do their homework or taking them from the sport classes and many other things to help them become good men. I advise you not to get too hard on them and to keep up being a good father.
Second of all, I hope you got an opportunity to visit a couple of foreign countries during your vacation with your kids and your wife, or maybe you even already have moved to one of them, so my efforts in studying English and IELTS exam were not wasted. But, if you are still trying to achieve at least 6.5 band in IELTS - just be honest to yourself - English is not for you and go study psychology.
But seriously I expect you are almost on the finish line of becoming a Licensed Engineer of Canada like you dreamed. I hope you still go in for sports and motivate your siblings and friends.
So take a deep breath, remember all the good things that happened through these 5 years, all the bad things that made you more experienced. Life is not easy now in 2021, and I know it's even tougher in 2026 so just don't give up.
P.S. Write the next letter for me in 2031, do me a favor)
