Dear FutureMe,
Hi! Today should be March 11, 2026 and I hope you're in a good place.
I just bombed a computer science midterm (there seems to be a pattern here) and I am not sure how to tell mom and dad. It's also 4 days before the deadline to transfer colleges, and I'm still unsure if I want to do it. I have an internship interview next week, and I feel really hopeless and very unprepared. I also have a midterm today (cross your fingers)!!
I hope you have a job. I tried doing technical interview problems a couple days ago and I think I want to throw up because they're so hard.
It's been 363 days since the pandemic started and I don't know when it will end.
Did you ever end up enjoying college? What about your grades? Did everything work out? Do you have friends? Do you still feel really lonely? How's Joey? Do you still have the same regrets?
Here's a list of things that you should get done in 5 years:
- move to college
- graduate college
- start going to the gym everyday
- post on instagram (it's been three years)
- go to the movie theater by yourself
- drive to the beach
- get an internship and a job
- learn how to ski
- get a film camera
- learn how to practice mindfulness
I hope growing up wasn't too bad, and you don't miss your childhood.
- Your 17-year-old Self
