Dear FutureMe,
Here's where we are right now: you just received your email from 5 years past you. You actually knew it was coming, but you weren't sure when. Some of your hopes we're met, which is good! Some weren't, but that is okay. Right now, you sit on Julian's bed. He is playing a VR game. You just read him your past email. Your head kind of hurts, though you aren't sure why. The CoronaVirus is still going strong and we're almost at the 1 year mark. 500,000 people died in this pandemic recently. You have homework you should be doing, but you don't want to.
You just wrote a 1 year letter to yourself and honestly can't think of much else to say. If you wanna reflect back on this time, go ahead and read that again. And maybe the one before.
Instead of writing ANOTHER reflection of the past 5 years, let's just move on to your hopes for the future.
I hope you're in grad school. You're doing something we love. Something that makes us happy.
I hope it's not a long shot, but.. I hope you're still with Julian. He's a good man, and right now, at 21 years old, he makes you very happy. Let's hope that didn't change..
I hope your mental health is good. Maybe you're still on medication. Maybe you are still in therapy. Either way, I hope you're doing well.
I hope to GOD the pandemic is over. I was a little worried when I wrote the 1 year letter we might still be in it but holy **** bro if you're still wearing a **** mask every day and going to zoom classes.. well, go pour yourself a drink bucko.
You survived the trump presidency! Hopefully Biden's went well. He's not perfect, but better than the cheeto. I wonder who is president now?
Man, it's hard to come up with more hopes.. I just want you to be happy. You deserve it. I want you to enjoy your life. 5 years ago today, you sit unemployed and unsure of your future. Today, what is it like? Do you like what you're doing? Do you like where you are? I really hope you do. If not.. make a change. Do it for you. Do it for me. Do it for 2016 Kayleigh, the child who had no idea how much better things would be for them in just a few years.
I love you, Kayleigh. Keep on making us happy. I believe in you.
