Dear FutureMe,
Wow. What a day today has been. For the past year, it has been completely unknown when life will start returning to normal but today, a roadmap for the near-future has been announced. In just a matter of months, I'll be able to go and visit people inside of their houses and move freely. I cannot explain how I am feeling right now, it's a mixture of anxiety, happiness, and just general overwhelmingness.
When you're reading this, covid 19 will (hopefully) be something of the past. I wanted to write this letter to remind you of a few things that I have learned from this pandemic.
1. Family and friends are THE most important thing in life. If I've learned anything from this pandemic, it's that material things really don't matter. The only thing I desire is a hug from my friends and family and to enjoy the company of others. Love is so valuable.
2. Never take anything for granted. You never think that your freedom will be taken away from you, but it happened to me. The ability to go and drive and visit a friend is an absolute luxury. Life is so precious and fragile. Celebrate every small victory.
3. You can get through more than you think. Sometimes in life, we face hurdles that seem impossible to overcome at the time. Looking back over the past year, I can only look back and be proud of myself for overcoming my anxieties surrounding the pandemic. I did it. Whatever hurdles you may be facing right now, just take a moment to remember that you can and will conquer them, and every hardship is going to make you stronger and put you on your intended path.
4. Never stop thanking and checking up on your loved ones. If there's one thing that I am thankful for, it is the support that I have received from my loved ones during some of my saddest times. They picked me up when I needed it the most, in particular Thomas, Rhiannon, Maisie, and Emma. Always be grateful, always show thanks.
5. There is goodness in our society, even in dark times.
Most importantly, I hope that you are enjoying life and taking every opportunity you can to fulfill your desires. Surround yourself with people that make you happy, and always show your thankfulness, love, and appreciation to those around you. Life is short, this pandemic has nearly taken two years of my life away from me, so make every day count, enjoy the small things, and most importantly follow your heart x
