It's December 17th, 2020

Dear future me, Every year I have ever lived through has been the ‘craziest year of my life.’ 2020 may be the peak of my life, but I don’t think it will be. I’ve lived through a lot. I lived in the middle of a pandemic. I’m wearing a mask in school as I write this. I was sent home in April, with no clue on how long I would have to deal with this new virus. I watched my nation realize how important equality is to them, and realize how cruel others can be. I also lived through the threat of World War 3. That was wild. I think I found myself this year, but I still have a way to go. Realizing your life isn’t a fairytale might be the hardest thing about having to grow up. I think I aged about twice as fast as I do normally, especially mentally. Letting go of the past might be the hardest part, but I don’t think I’m there yet. I’m gonna have to leave that up to you. For now, I think I’m going to cope, then we’ll work through that later. It’s December 17th when I’m writing this, and Trump is still calling for the votes to be recounted. Joe Biden is currently our president elect, and I’m looking forward to his presidency. I hope much needed changes will come with him. I’ve watched people pretend to stand up for something they care nothing about this year. Racial injustice has been a major problem. People are standing up for their rights, but others don’t seem to care and want to continue to oppress them. I’m not sure if you remember, but George Floyd was ******** in cold blood by police officers. Former President Donald J. Trump mocked him. Some people are stupid, and others know what they’re doing. He knows what he’s doing. Both Trump and the leader of North Korea were thought to be dead. The border is a major problem. Right after Biden takes office, a large caravan of immigrants is expected to arrive at the border. I’m not sure how he’ll handle the problem, but I hope he handles it with empathy. A couple of animals got covid, which was pretty funny. Even a tiger got it. 41,415 animals and plants are on the endangered species list. Tigers, rhinos, Sumatran Elephants, and pangolins are expected to go extinct this year. The fact that humans continue to push animals to extinction just for more room is sad. As of right now, Jeff Bezos is the richest person in the world. He’s worth about 115 billion dollars. I have 88 dollars in my bank account. I’m going to start working next year when I turn 14, which is exciting. Woo! Work! I hope next year and the years to follow are better, because living in 2020 is hard. I hope Teddy and Sadie are doing okay. Sadie has been annoying me like always, and Teddy has been only being nice to me when she wants food and pets. So everything is normal there.
