Dear FutureMe,
It is currently 2020, and in 5 years you'll be reading this at the age of 23. Hopefully you have been out of college for at least a year and working on securing a teacher spot! Looking back on 2020 it was a rough year but we got through it. The beginning half was supposed to be the second semester of our senior year.. prom, graduation, senior celebration with our classmates, but with Covid we did not get to enjoy those things. Despite the rough patches we were able to start college where one of the first classes was SOSE 3306. This class with Professor Chen have you an insight on the world not only in our prospective, but the prospective of others. It made us think about the equality that should be given to students throughout their education, and that teaching is beyond just giving students things to remember, it is about making students feel welcomed and safe, making sure students are not falling behind because of inequalities in the school and giving students learning environments that provide and promote thinking and learning skills to them. I pledge to become a teacher in the future who remembers the things taught in this class and hope that I would include all of the things learned in my own classroom.
