A letter from November 4th, 2020

Dear FutureMe, Hey! It’s you at 18 years old. This is ✨weird✨ but I think future me will love it. So, we are just finishing up the HSC exams, just graduated with two massive awards, The ‘Australian defence force long tan’ award and ‘Caltex all rounder’ award. (Hey, youuuu got that not the school captains) anyway. I’m about to go to schoolies, formal and all that. Your best friends are Bailey, Jerri, Jai, Kirra as well as being good friends with Charlotte, cooper, Matt, emese, sinead, Jakob and Daniella (although you guys are in a fight right now, but you love her and will get over it.) Small friend group, but we are learning to pick and choose who really loves you for you. ‘Among us’ is really big right now, tonight we will find out who’s the next president of the United States and the first origin decider. 2020 has been deadset challenging, as you did online school for 2 months straight, but you did it. (Jones town academy) say that to mum and she’ll have a Cackle. Zack’s cruising through eighth grade because his clever, and Ruby basically owns fifth grade. Jake loves Pac-force. Mums making a beautiful outdoor area, we got the pavilion installed today ! Dads okay, his chipping away at the Crowie. Me, I’m still having 16 thoughts (if you remember those) but I’m getting better. We’ve already worked so hard and I’m really proud of where we are. I’ve had to grow up a lot and I’m trying my hardest to become the best future me. But, now my predictions for the future. I think right now you are sitting in your unit laughing at past you and the memories are flooding back. Remind yourself that I’m not sure which uni we are going to yet.. I’d hoped for Sydney, UTS but I’m guessing Macquarie is where we end up getting our education degree. I’m hoping you are a first year teacher, currently loving teaching kids and earning some real money. I hope mum and I are all good and that she’s okay and thriving. Same with dad. Zack would be just finished high school and starting his lawyer degree, the ambition in that kid. Ruby I hope is running an absolute muck at 16 (received her first car perhaps ?) And Jake enjoying working life, still as handsome as ever. My bubbas Zeus and Jaxx a little bit older and slow but just loyal as ever. I hope you’ve found someone that loves you and that ponytail. A boyfriend or ...girlfriend ? Just someone to explore the world with and cuddle with. I bloody hope we’ve made it to Thredbo once or twice because year 11 camp was one of our best memories at this point. I hope you have made amazing friends that are with you for life, but have managed to hold onto some of the old ones, Bailey, Daniella, Jai, emese, sinead, Matt, Kirra, Jerri And if you haven’t, CALL THEM. The thing I most wish for you is that you are genuinely happy. With who you are, what your doing and where your going. We’ve always pushed through, so me just getting to read this message in 5 years will be enough to shed a tear. Year nine was a defining moment, but we’ve grown and bloomed into something bigger then any of it. I love you a lot and I hope you can read this with pride, future me. I love you, Past me. X
