A letter from October 28th, 2020

Dear FutureMe, I don't think the world's ever been as crazy as it is right now. To give you a small political/global snapshot trumps running for president.....again ( no jk ) ( he claims to be the least racist in the room ), Modi's still prime minister ( hey its 50-50, half of us hate him and half adore him ) and the whole world is fighting a pandemic that has ****** 1.17 million people, and 44 million still trying to survive. Our country has had 905 deaths this year and literally everything shut down at the beginning of this year. I'm not joking, restaurants, sports centers, museums, leisure activities, businesses. So many things shut down during the beginning of the year when we went into quarantine. For my future self 5 (or 10 depending on when you see this) years into the future, I hope you remember the despair our world went through. You must be in your 2nd year of uni ( or 25 ), I hope you're actually going to lessons/work and not zoom calling ( or conference/facetime in your terms ) since half our year has gone by in that. Quarantine was a period of time where stepping outside of the house for non-essential things ( yes school included ) was denied. The only reason you could go outside was to buy groceries and that too once a week. Imagine living in a world like that and there you must be, being able to go out, drive around, step outside and breathe, socialize with people without wearing a mask, or without worrying you'll catch the COVID-19 virus. Can you believe even Garba got canceled this year!! I think we're running elections again ( you can never be too sure, its not like you ever paid attention to our own countries politics ), Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are expecting a child soon, we've gone into recession ( I think half the world has to be honest ) ( search it up if you don't know what that is ), blacklivesmatter became a big thing halfway through this year, and oh yes some of the biggest tea.....literally every airline has gone out of business ( IDK why that's such big tea ). For a little over more than what say 4 months, airlines quit working. Due to the pandemic, international and even domestic travel was banned and every airline has probably gone into debt so yes life's epic for the world currently. There have been a lot of wars and outrages this year in so many countries including the Uighur Muslim camps are still a thing and to see that the world is no better than it was 10 years ago still ***** me. WW3 was going to be declared in January and Ayodhya got its temple back. Now on a more personal level, I hope you're not still obsessed with "him", if you are you'll know who I'm talking about before even finishing this sentence, if you aren't then it must have taken at least a few seconds ( hopefully minutes ) for your brain to process which "him" I'm on about. Now I want you to think about your best friends right now...are they still the same as high school or have you all moved on? I pray you haven't and end up rushing, taking screenshots to go show them this stupid thing you wrote since that's such a you thing. How they haven't given up on you, I do not know. Is N still stubborn, egoistic, refusestosaysorry, player, almighty, and a total hotshot? Is J still crazy, a total cutie, wholesome, and still the most cuddly thing there? Is M still listening to you go on and on about life and always giving crazy advice that never goes your way but you still love her anyway? Is the other M still giggling at every little thing, giving wise old advice that makes her the biggest hypocrite but still the one you love the most? Is K still judgy, a total branded crazy with the ability to roast the hell out of everyone? Is papa still stressed about every little thing, angry at every little thing, not spending time with any of us, and still chewing as loudly? Is mumma still the ever understanding peacemaker that will always be your no.1 best friend?? Is dhanvi still bratty as hell and refusing to study or do as you tell her while showing attitude? How has vedu grown up huh? Is he still cheeky af and the cutest lil munchkin you know? Now onto your career...what are you doing FutureMe? Did business scare you off or did you stick with it like the Patel queen you are? Did event managing stick like the random idea it was and have you become world-famous for crying while hosting/planning an event yet? or Did you end up taking medicine like the loyal daughter you are and are you well on your way to become Dr.FutureMe?? Did any of these things become your life or are you in some completely different place but happy? I hope you are FutureMe because that's all I wish for you. I wish you have friends that will be standing by your side till the day you stop breathing, I wish you still have a completely messed up family that still loves you regardless, I wish you're working towards a career that will never bore you, will support you and you'll still be happy, but most of all I hope you've found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. The Rahul to your Anjali, the jack to your rose, and the Krishna to your Radha. May you spend the rest of your years in peace and happiness FutureMe, that's all I ask. - Stay happy, safe, lively but most of all stay you FutureMe, good luck!
