A letter from October 25th, 2020

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, Hey! It's Deema obviously. I'm writing this from 5 years ago at 11:56 AM. The idea coming from TikTok. I chose to write this letter because I thought it would be cool to see words I wrote when I was 17. I'm currently 17 years old. I'm very confused in life right now. I would say it's the most stressful and pressuring time of the year. It's 2020, we have the COVID-19 virus out still. We're wearing masks everywhere we go, school is 100% virtual until January hopefully. That is if you choose hybrid :/. Basically senior year was ruined. But I hope the boy's and girl's swim team still went on. You need those community service hours! I'm in a really bad place mentally. As a senior, I'm not really sure what I would want to be, in 5 years. I'm currently not planning to go to college, because it's not for me. No, I haven't told my parents yet :/. I'm hoping they accept that and I can live my life how I want to. I've been working as a lifeguard as you know for about 6 months. Still spending all of my money on useless things. I have a HUGE teddy bear and a galaxy light projector coming soon. Anyways, enough about me. You will be 21-23 (I can't do math)! My prediction in 5 years is that you're still working as a lifeguard, saving money for a place to live while splitting rent with a friend. If your parents manipulated you, you would most likely be in community college in STL living with mama and baba, then transferring to a real college, which you should be 3/4 done with, if you didn't fail any classes. You probably majored in criminal justice, forensics, or something of the sort. I really can't predict what job you'll have because that's too early to say! You're probably really depressed and not happy. I really hope you have your driver's license by now because I haven't even gotten my permit :D. I'm guessing you have your dream car. Hopefully a black Dodge Dart. If you're in college this probably didn't get to happen yet due to your...circumstances, but if you're not going to college and you're working, I'm hoping you got to meet Billy? We're actually calling right now as you read this letter. He's helping his dad while I'm listening. We're still best friends and call every day and night, so I really hope you two are keeping in touch still. Maybe he's the "friend" that you're splitting rent with. Also I really hope you never cut your hair because we know what happened last time. Oh yeah and Ricky! I hope he's alive still. Hopefully if you have an apartment, he's living with you. He's currently too scared to go on my bed for some reason and only sleeps on my chair. That's about all I can update you on. I just really hope you're doing what you love and that you're truly happy. I've been so depressed constantly thinking about applying to college, deadlines, community service, graduating, grades, and car stuff. I just want this senior phase to end so I can start my life. Good luck! - Love, Deema Rimawi, Your Future Self.
