A letter from September 12th, 2020

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, You are currently living in Germany, in that tiny apartment in that small village. This weekend has been tough, the guy you like is spending the weekend with the love of his life. You're hurting, you're crying, you're drinking. You just wrote a letter to yourself and sent it 1 year into the future. Then you started reading other people's public letters, and realised that heartbreak is a common theme. It's ok not to be ok. Be kinder to yourself (your keyboard just capitalised the A to Kinder because you're learning German 😅). Anyway, reading other people's letters inspired you to write a letter into the very far future. You are now facing the decision whether to go back to your home country or stay in Germany. You want to work for current employer for 2 years then go get your MBA in a completely new country. You are not big on Marriage, and definitely not excited about kids. Did that change? You had your Covid test yesterday because you've had a sore throat for 2 weeks. How's the Post - Covid World? Is there a new pandemic? Today was your cousin Lilian's burial day. You've listened to a lot of music from home, and mourned her in your own way. Anyway, this is getting long. My prayer is that, if you are still alive, you are happy. I pray that you have a job that makes you really happy. That you have enough money to get nice things for Mum, dad and your brothers. I hope you continued to travel the world and learnt to love yourself more. I hope you stopped letting people use you, stopped offering free emotional labour, and are truly more confident. One last thing, you've been on a low carb pescatarian diet for the last 2 months! I hope you are healthy and look gorgeous too 😊 Anyway, this is getting too long. I need to get back to my Peas, Spinach, Avocado and Pinacolada cocktails. I do love you so much. O don't always act like it, but I do love you. Your past self.
