A letter from August 25th, 2020

Dear FutureMe, It’s 22:13 on a Tuesday night. I’m currently on break watching Scary Movie 2 with a pregnant Charl upstairs asleep while ToyStory plays in the background (the usual). We’re around 5 months into the Covid19 pandemic and still working from home. I hope that **** disappeared by the time you get this message! Queuing to get into ASDA is giving me aids... Charl’s currently around 10-11 weeks pregnant and we have our 12 week scan in the next 2 weeks. You’re excited and terrified at the same time! You hear all these stories about people miscarrying but you remain positive! Everything will be fine and you’re little human will be with you in the next 6 months! You’re worrying about not being a good Dad and fear that somehow you’ll fail to be the father that little bean needs or the partner that Charl needs you to be during the tantrums and midnight feeds. I hope you read this in 5 years and look back and think, we absolutely smashed it! Little bean is now nearly 5 years old and you both did an amazing job or raising him (or her) into the most polite, intelligent, funny, caring little person they could be. By now you should also be ******* hench and be lifting close to 500kg on the bench. You’ve had 5 years man, what are you playing at! I hope lifting is still a passion of yours but I do hope that you’re a little kinder to yourself these days. Just remember to take a day out of the gym every now and again and make sure that you’re making time for the people who matter. I hope Mom and Dad are still around and healthy! If not, I’m almost positive that they would be proud of the person you became and the grandson (or daughter) you brought into this world. I hope this message reaches you and that you’re still happy and healthy. Also, tell Charl from me that I love her more than anything in this world and I’m sorry I didn’t propose sooner than I did... You must have popped the question by now, right?? If not, what are you waiting for! You mean the world to her also, I can tell so get a move on! Also, another thing, hows the watch collection coming along? I hope you got the Submariner (Hulk) or the GMT (Batman). If not, theres still time.
