Dear Future Cami,
Dear Future Cami,
Hi. Today you turned twenty-seven years old, and that's quite a number. We both know what happened to the "Twenty-seven Club" but this letter is not about tragedy.
The day I write this letter you are twenty-one years and five months old. Your favorite songs are:
-Modern Love, by David Bowie (I know you still miss him)
-Love Will Tear Us Apart, by Joy Division
-Midnight City, by M83
-Wuthering Heights, by Kate Bush
-I Won't Back Down, by Tom Petty
Maybe your taste has changed, maybe we don't like the same things anymore, maybe we don't even think the same anymore! What I do know for sure is that you are incredibly strong, and you and I both know what we went through, but today you are someone else, the young, virginal, innocent you is left behind. Everyone has a past they try to run away from, but we must look at our demons in the eye at some point. I'm guessing you already did. You can teach me more than I can teach you, but I'm just reminding you that it's okay to feel small and scared sometimes. But even if you feel afraid, take the big leap anyways, you won't regret it.
I won't set the bar too high for you, just be human, make mistakes, be angry, sad, ugly, bad, and if they don't like you, don't give a **** about it. Never let anybody take away your soul, because it's yours and no one else's.
Farewell,
2020 yours truly.
