A letter from June 16th, 2020

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, please tell me shes okay. I have not stopped thinking about her and its been an entire week. I hope to one day look back on this with her and say, "wow look at you now, you went through so much and you look amazing". Tuesday, June 9th, 2020, you woke up thinking it would be another normal day during the corona virus; wake up at 11 am and stay in bed for an hour, watching tik toks and boring social media posts. However, as you read your text, you were so wrong. Your friend that you have known since you were 6 already went through emergency surgery for a fractured neck and was in the ICU recovering. After checking her location on your phone, you saw she was home and relieved. But as the text came in, you realized you were wrong again and that she was still at hospital. You didn't eat that much that day. You ran 6 miles. Didn't stop once, you were so upset and angry with the world. She's finally awake and face-timed her grandmother and best-friend. You were so relieved but still had a pit in your stomach. A few hours later, your strong friend was fighting a 106-109 degree fever. They had to put her into a coma. Your heart ached for not only her but her entire family. After several days, the fever decreased and she was woken up but not responsive yet. She is currently on dialysis getting her kidneys cleared. In 24 hours, her go-fund me page reached $95,000. Unbelievable. Seriously shows the love and support from such a small community. Now you anxiously wait. You only want to hear good news and refuse any bad. You pray. You can't imagine life without this friend because she is amazing and makes her own fun wherever she goes. You need her. Although everything has sank in a little, everything still feels fake. Never in a million years would you think this would be happening to YOUR friend from breaking her neck. But it is. I hope she is doing well. Enjoying life as she normally does. I hope you and her are laughing, making jokes, and dancing. Please give her a huge hug because that is what I want right now from her.
