Dear Kyle,
One word… coronavirus. While this virus is being talked about all over the world daily, I have read on news sites and social media and have heard many people say they thought that the virus was something new because they had never heard of it before. Coronaviruses are not new. What is new is the particular strain of virus called COVID-19. The disease first appeared in December 2019 in China. Some of the symptoms are cough, fever, shortness of breath, fatigue, and unexplained loss of taste and smell. These symptoms can be spread from person to person and can be severe enough to cause *****. The virus is diagnosed with a laboratory test, currently, there is no vaccine.
I am concerned about how this global pandemic is going to change life in the future. I do think that the coronavirus will eventually hit Webster County and take over very fast. I just hope none of my family or friends get this virus. In my opinion, I don’t think I’ll be going back to school my junior year due to the coronavirus. I’ve spent most of my days sitting at home with my sister and watching my new favorite show, All American. I started helping my friend Ben and his dad Trevor move out of their apartment into their own house. The school has provided free breakfast, lunch, and dinner for everyone ages 1-18 in the entire district, so I’ve gone up everyday and picked them up. This has been very helpful to my parents by saving money and me not having to cook for us. Both of my parents work everyday and sometimes I leave, so it’s good for my sister to have a meal already prepared.
I’m very concerned about the coronavirus interfering with my senior year and my football season. Next year will be my last time to show scouts what I’m capable of, and them being able to see what I can do on and off the field. As of right now, I’m depending on football as a hobby and my life in the future. My all time goal is to go to the NFL. Who knows, in 5 years when I read this again I may have changed my mind and want to proceed in life at something else. I definitely think that this pandemic will have an impact on my sports career and my life in general.
