A letter from April 5th, 2020

Dear FutureMe, Happy Birthday! It's so strange to me now that you are 19 years old today. I am writing this now in 2020 at 13 years old. I wonder how much your life has changed from now. Right now during the easter holiday of 2020 your life is pretty normal. Except for the coronavirus though. I have been doing the homeschooling thing for 3 weeks now. The latest thing I was graded on was an essay in Englihs. We had two hours to write it and it was about my opinion on wether I thought Odysseus was good or not. The following was my essay: Odysseus is a moral person and a good leader. He trusts and has faith in his comrades. Odysseus often proves to be wise a humble man throughout the Odyssey. He perseveres throughout the whole story and never gives up. Odysseus is an excellent character as he is cunning, courageous and a fantastic, strong leader who would do anything to return home to his loved ones. In book 12 of the Odyssey, he and his comrades were departing from Circe’s home and on their journey, they passed the Sirens whom Circe had warned Odysseus about. Odysseus showed that he had full trust in his comrades to bind him to the ship and not allow him to give in to temptation. “So [the sirens] spoke, sending forth their beautiful voice, and my heart was fain to listen, and I bade my comrades loose me, nodding to them with my brows; but they fell to their oars and rowed on,” (Homer). This shows just how confident Odysseus is that his comrades will do the right things and protect him. When Odysseus had returned home to Ithaca, he knew better than to storm into his home and reclaim his place as king for if he were to do so he would surely get himself ******. Instead, there was a contest to see which of the suitors should wed Penelope by stringing Odysseus’s bow and shooting an arrow through 12 axes. Odysseus dressed as an old beggar and won and ****** nearly all the suitors. His nurse Eurycleia was thrilled at the sight. However, Odysseus proved to be very humble when saying “an unholy thing is it to boast over slain men,” (Homer). Odysseus’s words go to show that even when greatly victorious he recognizes that the ***** of an enemy is no reason to become hubristic. On Odysseus’s journey home he encountered countless obstacles. One of these includes Aeolos capturing the winds for him so that he could sail home. When they could see Ithaca, his comraded accidentally set the winds free, resulting in them being blown back to Aeolus’s island. When Odysseus was denied Aeolus's help a second time, he persevered. Even when all his comrades died and he was all alone, he kept going. It shows that Odysseus’s persistence pays off because in the end, he manages to return to his beloved Ithaca and win the contest, “without effort did Odysseus string the great bow [and] did not miss the end of the handle of one of the axes,” (Homer). This is one of the morals Homer teaches through the Odyssey. Odysseus never gives up on trying to reach his loved ones by being a brave, humble and persevering leader and king. Odysseus remains a trustworthy and prominent leader by having a certain amount of trust and love for his comrades whom he leads on his journey home. He is wise and knows better than to be hubristic and careless. In conclusion, Odysseus is a great role model as he is intelligent and brave. I'm quite happy with it! I got an 8, 7, 6 and 7. But now I'm just in my second year of middle school although I am further than halfway through. I guess you are now finished with highschool. I hope you did really well. I wish for you to get into a great university. My plan now is to try and do well in school and get into a good university. After university I want to travel the world with some amazing friends. Then I can settle down and get a job and start a family. Thinking about it now it sounds kind of boring. But I hope that I live in an amazing and really exciting place. I heard about this family that sold everything they had and just travelled the world for two months. They said that what they had experienced in those two months was more than they had experienced in the last two years. I believe that. Do everything you can for you life not to just be waking up everyday and doing the same thing over and over again every day. Then you are not truly living. I would like to tell you to make every day an adventure but how can one do that will loads of responsibilities? Well, I actually just remembered something. You can just become a sugar baby. That's actually a really good idea! That way you can not just become a poor university student. It's probably quite easy... I hope. Anyway, to give you a little recap of how I'm doing now, there was the huge drama between Katie, Iselin and Myriam and I. It was really just that none of us were friends with Myriam for a while but that is over now. Iselin has a crush on Theis even though he has the ugliest haircut ever.. just kidding... he hasn't cut his hair for a while and it's always greasy and disgusting. Anyway he's a piece of ****. Speaking of hair, Sid had the top of his hair dyed blonde and I don't think it looks great. But I can't beleive I forgot to say that I cut my own fringe so wrong!! I cut so much so it always gets in the way and is super annoying. It looks terrible as well. When I first cut it it was way to short but now it's too long to look good. I'm just trying to let it grow out. I use a black headband to keep it out of the way. I guess you must have had your glow up by now. And don't worry about having a crooked nose. If you think about it you are just a brain in a random persons body. You can't fix your nose unless you get surgery but please only do that if you get super rich. But anyway the point was that you can work on your body and look really good in that way. I'm trying to start working out now and it's not so bad. JUST WORKOUT!! I feel like this is getting really long. Just don't be a *****. The moral of the story is to just live your best life. Becuase if we didn't have vaccinations and everything now you have already lived half your life. Just think that you made it this far. You finished middle school and high school so good on you! I'm really proud of you! And I can say that with confidence because you are not the kind of person to become a dropout because you know stuff! And DON'T SUICIDE!! You're actually a pretty awesome person. I am a pretty awesome person and I haven't even had a glow up yet. So be the bad ***** that you are and try not to cringe too hard from your thirteen year old self. And don't bully me, that's just mean, I'm trying my best here. And last thing. Please have good fashion sense. And remember to go to meals yard if you haven't already. And go to Greece too! Or Macedonia again it was pretty cool there.
