A letter from March 21st, 2019

Time Travelled — almost 7 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, Wednesday, March 20th, 2019 Dear Future Self, It's me, well you from March 21st, 2019. I’m writing a letter to you to talk about a couple of things and to motivate you when times get rough. So, how has life been? Do you enjoy University or College? I hope everything is still good and you enjoy school. You’re probably going through a lot of stuff from 20 page essays to 40 minute presentations so I just want to let you know that you’re strong and you can get through anything if you try. Today is a gloomy Thursday in Barrie. You probably live somewhere bigger and nicer then Barrie, at least I hope. You probably don’t live with Mom and Dad anymore so I want you to make sure to take a couple of minutes right now to call them and talk to them. Just don’t forget about them. Try to visit the entire family every once in a while too. Did you remember to cherish your high school years? I hope you didn’t cause any trouble and you made sure to do everything you wanted there before you left. I also hope you didn’t get afraid to do something and you now regret it! Hopefully, in high school and College or University, you didn’t get pressured into doing something like smoking, drugs, drinking or skipping class. My suggestion to you to help you not get pressured into doing something is to just say NO. You don’t have to do anything you are uncomfortable with. Stick around the right kind of people and get rid of the bad influences. Stop procrastinating and just do it. Put your best effort into everything and always try your best. Don’t get embarrassed because someone thinks what you’re doing is weird or stupid. Be yourself! Don’t get pressured into doing stupid things you will regret. For example, don’t bully someone because everyone else is and don’t try to be funny to friends by being rude to someone else. Overall, I want you to make sure you treat people right and be a good role model. Start doing good things for others. It’s as simple as giving a compliment to a stranger or ever smiling! At the end of the day try naming 3 nice things you did for others. I wanna tell you that I’m proud of everything you do and everything you’ve done! Everything happens for a reason. Try not to blast by University because you're gonna miss those days when you’re older and in the real world. Today if you can, go to Church and thank god for everything you have. Life is too short to be spent paranoid and self-conscious! Live your life to the fullest potential and don’t look back. Like the famous Will Smith said, “ Life isn’t how many breaths you take, but it’s the moments that take your breath away.” If there is one thing that I want you to know, it’s that no matter how many times you fail, I want you to get back up and keep trying. You’re strong and I believe that you can change the world. All you have to do is believe! I hope you are happy and enjoying your life at the moment. Whenever you are stressed or are feeling down you can read this letter. Right now, I am are sitting in my room writing this to you for an 8th-grade assignment. Everyone is downstairs watching Survivor. It’s my final year at Elementary school and there's still a lot I wish I had done. I had great friends and great teachers throughout all of Elementary school. I start High School soon and I’m a little worried. I’ve sent you this letter on February 28th, 2026. It’s your 21st birthday. Happy birthday! You are probably too busy to see this letter, but if you are reading this then I want to say that I’m happy with who we are and have become! I wouldn’t want to be anyone else. I won’t take up any more of your special day, but try not to forget about the old you, me! The weird, quirky, funny and awkward kid that you once were. Sincerely, You
