A letter from December 30th, 2018

Time Travelled — almost 7 years

Peaceful right?

Dear Chantal, I don't know if you still go by that or if its Jay or whatever (I'll never know who I am) but I wanted to send you a letter for the day you turn 25. Wow. 25, for a little ol' 18 year old that seems like ages away. What are you up to? are you speaking french? did you find someone that respects you? Its currently Dec 30th 2018 and I'm writing this letter instead of my resume I should be sending to Ms. Zaldivar. Pratt application is due the 5th, did I get in? probably not, where did I go? Did we travel? did you see what you needed to see? will you keep traveling? you should. Where are you now? In New York? San Francisco? Seattle? Chicago? Maybe you did what we both wanted to do and ran away, started anew. In Dublin? have you been to Myanmar yet? Go. What's your drive now? still film? it better be, we're both working hard for this. How are movies different, what, 7 years from now? whats music like? fashion? people? Us? how have I changed? did I dye my hair blonde? or pink? do I have tattoos? I guess I'm asking a lot of unanswerable questions. The permanence of actions and time has always immobilized me. You can never go back, you are constantly moving forward in time. Are you still writing? Did you take that philosophy course? Are you reading? Call Cedric if you haven't spoken to him in a bit. Buy him a book, or a frying pan, something adult. You're both adults. What he would be nearly 30 by now? or is? that's crazy he's 22 right now. Call Angie. Or Vincent. Make sure they're ok. And Michelle, oh! Marine :) call Marine for SURE. and Nidia, who's probably in New York. I want to know how you're doing so bad, but I guess I got to wait 7 years to find out. Thats wild. How did things work out with Ethan? Are you getting married? (not with ethan I don't think this would last to long) but are you planning to at least? Teach your kids french, how to cook, how to love. Music, bring that back into your life, you will always be a violinist. I sent you a note for when you turn 23, this is a check up in a sorts then. Making sure you did what I told you to do. Listen to Vacation by Florist. or the Libretines, the Marias, Tv Girl. Remember me, 18, still in high school, remember Sam's house, remember Dorian, remember Pam, remember skipping school and going to the beach. Remember Catharsis. Is that still around? Write them something if they are, you are an alumni after all. I hope for both of our sake you not still stuck in Miami. If you are, wtf are you waiting on, fly away. Live in France for sometime. Read your old writing, look at old pictures, remember the old to build towards the new. I love you, Forever Jay or Chantal (im in a crisis right now I hope you figured it out) PS. DO something
