A letter from September 18th, 2018

Time Travelled — almost 7 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, I am currently in high school as a senior. We are about one month into school, and I am struggling to keep my boat floating. At this moment I was just sent to the guidance office for Mr. Winkler marking me absent when I was actually there. My life is a current struggle right now as this entire unit is due tomorrow, and we have a quiz wednesday. I have been gone the last two days of class so I am currently trying to catch up. I am a week behind in my college class and I have a test next week. I hope by twenty-four you have learned from your mistakes and are graduating from college. Life is good other than being ten feet over my head in stress. Homecoming is two weeks away, and it is the only keeping afloat. I don’t have a date which is not unusual. I’m hoping to get one, but if not, that’s okay. Anyway, I hope life is good. Living the dream in Arizona with a husband and a young family, is where I see myself then. Next year I am moving to Arizona by myself. It is going to be very hard, but the lessons and experiences that will come with it will be life changing. The only people I have out there is Jeneen. I hope you have become great friends with her. I hope you have a husband. Make sure you make good decisions and don’t let anyone stop you from doing what you have always dreamed of doing. You can do anything; Prove the doubters that your dreamers are reality. Mr. Burhans would be proud that I used a semicolon in the previous sentence. I hope this letter is a good one to read because I am trying to not make it boring. Who are you still talking to from high school? Is Leah still a part of your life? I am sure Kennedy is. Has mom moved out there yet. I’m sure she has if your pregnant yet. She is still trying to move out there with me next year. I have got to get some medical things figured out before then. I can not run is cross country right now because of some anxiety issues. Do you still have these problems? Have they been figured out? Was I just crazy? You better still be running. It is great and will keep you healthy. If you aren’t, I encourage you to get your butt outside and start. You don’t have to be fast, just get out and do a little bit. Slowly, you will gain endurance and before you know it, you will be running eight minute miles. Get your family exercising. Don’t be the family that sits inside every evening. Get the kids off the electronics, and be involved with neighborhood activities. It’s exciting to sit here and imagine the person I will be in 2025. The biggest thing I hope to see you having in 2025 is a good person to talk to. In high school you didn’t have a boyfriend so use that to your advantage. You are a strong, confident young women that hasn’t been broken down by dumb relationships. I want you to have found someone that is loyal, kind, and strong. One that lifts you up and shows you off. If you haven’t found someone, I have faith that he will come. Patience is a huge lesson your learning in this journey. If you do have someone, tell him how much he truly means to you. He is truly special to be able to handle someone like you! Wow! It is crazy that this letter is already over. I was struggling to start at the beginning and now we are closing up. Today we have the danish student here. She is super nice, and she is going to be going to my senior pictures with me tonight. Her name is Stephanie. My pictures are at River Valley. You probably will still have some of them, but I hope they turned out. It will be insane to see the difference between how I look now and then. I wish you the best of luck! You are amazing, and I hope you are living your dream. If you are still finishing college, then you have got this! You are almost there. I’m excited to react the this letter in a few years from now!
