A letter from September 3rd, 2018

Dear FutureMe, Hi, today you turned 26. I’m writing this in 2018, 19 year old you. 7 years, you’ll receive this. Your contract should’ve ended by now but if you reenlisted, good on you. Are you still questioning your *********? Are you still in the closet? Did you get married? Any children? I hope you experienced the world while you were on a ship. I don’t know what to write right now, I really can’t predict what your future is like, or your present. It’s hard for me to imagine because just getting through today is tough. I hope you still talk to your fellow classmates and all that. I don’t know where you’ll be, maybe across the seas. Or in the east coast? Either way, I hope you enjoy today. You’re 26, it’s 2025. I truly hope you found that happiness within because you truly deserve it. You’ve probably gotten more tattoos. Maybe you had the guts to tell your best friend that you loved her. It really was always her since sophomore year, that bond is different than others. Maybe also your hair is back to its original length. Short hair was fun but it’s annoying now. Hopefully, your family’s health is in good shape. Mom, dad, step dad, siblings, etc. Not sure what else to talk about other than the fact that I hope you are happy. You’ve got more experience in your hands now. I hope that you’ve got to marry the girl of your dreams and if not I hope you find her. Maybe you’ve gotten the house you’ve always wanted and your dog. Maybe. Still, keep your head up, it’s not over yet. You’ve got 60+ years to live it up. You’re gonna be a badass mom, wife, grandma; all that, especially with your tattoos! (03 September 2018)
