Dear Future Me...

Peaceful right?

Hi there, future me. I'm wondering, do you still remember writing this email? And if you do, do you also remember why? That Dan Brown video you watched on youtube, March 2nd 2008, sitting in your room in Shizuoka, Japan? Ten years is an awfully long time. I mean, if I think back ten years from now - I was 13 and the internet was a vague concept at best. I didn't have an email adress and things ike blogs and youtbe and fanfiction meant nothing to me. Ten years from now there'll be a lot of things that I hold dear and that I couldn't imagine living without that I might not even have thought about at this point. 23-year-old-me is mainly concerned with writing random stories and drawing trading card sized pictures, and a little with grades and what will come after university. Damn, you did all that. You (hopefully) graduated and found some sort of job. Did you write and publish a book? That would be awesome. However if you didn't, this question might depress you. In any case, I'm sure you haven't given up on art and writing, that is something you liked doing when you were thirteen, you loved it when you were 23 and right now I think you'll love it when you're 33. I'm also wondering whether you're still calling yourself "Jeanne". I managed to establish that nick name when I was 16 or so and it stuck, to a point where only close relatives use "Janine" anymore. I don't even have to think about it, using "Janine" sounds weird to me, saying the name out aloud is almost like saying the name of someone else. Scary, huh? Wonder how that turned out. How much do you remember of yourself ten years ago? Do you remember how much you loved comics, especially Iron Man? Does the Connichi still exist, and do you still work there every year? Where do you live right now? Remember Lülsdorf? Yeah, trying not to, I thought so. How many of your current friends do you still see on a regular basis? Did you keep in contact, or have all of you moved on? Oh, and slash, you still like that, right? Any new kinks? I wish I knw what you're thinking right now, what you think about yourself ten years ago. Maybe your half-laughing right now, a little nostalgic, how nice it was back then, how easy, but how glad you are that those challenges lie behind you now. You might not remember the soft sunlight drying your laundry on the balcony at this moment, the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series shirt sawying a little in a mild breeze. You will probably not remember the drawing that lay in front of you, the Runaways card showing Chase and Molly, the one for Sperber (you have a good memory, so I suppose now you do remember). Maybe this makes you visit a few old websites, go through your deviant art account or even dig out a few old pictures you keep stored away soem place (because you can't throw stuff away, ever). I also wonder where you're living today; still in or around Cologne/Bonn, or somewhere else entirely? Did you go to the states for a while, like you planned? How's your English? Japanese? Did you try out another language? Are you still into some of the stuff you like at 23? Did Pokémon make it through another ten years? Did the YGO tradig card game? Read any good books recently? Did LKH finish Anit Blake, or is it still going? Did you get closer to the furry community? How's your family? Ute, Björn, JOe, all okay? These are things that matter to you right now, things that you thought about. Ten years from now, in 2018, things might be different, and I'd like to know. And I will! Cya in ten years! ~Jeanne PS: Hopefully this email adress is still valid. XD
