Dear Me, I'm writing to you now on Monday, June 04, 2007. If you're reading this, I'm amazed that you've still kept the same email for a good seven or eight years. Anyway, I hope you're alive at this point, and that you can receive this message. If not, that really sucks. There's been so many theories that the world will end before you receive this, but that's why I'm going to remind you to send an email to yourself two years in the future reminding them to remind yourself two years in the future, and so on.
How's life at 18? Is it shit, did you really fuck up in life? I really hope not, even though it's been going downhill since 2006. Hopefully you've lost some pounds by now, because I weigh a lot at this point in life and I could change that. Hopefully you learned coding by now like Abyss suggested, and you're still friend with him. He's pretty smart. Anyway, you should try and get into a college to design or code games with a couple friends. Hopefully you've kept in touch with Rei, Mike, Chuck, Josh, Kyle, and any other friends you may have that you're happy to be with.
If all hell has frozen over and there's shitloads of radiation, or some disaster happened, and you still managed to get this message, you're crafty. If the world is in terror and there's civil war, take this as an opportunity to toughen up and take action. Gather some sane people(although calm insane people is fine, talking to themself like you is what I mean) to set up a small camp, and hunt for food and water. If death is almost positive in some situations, make sure you have a chance to thank whatever greater power created the universe, though I'm not sure you believe in god at this point, as I don't right now. Thank the greater power for making you meet the wonderful people you've known in your life, and all the other good stuff.
Keep friends close if hell really does freeze over, and stay sane. If you have to shoot someone, mumble under your breath that you're sorry until you're at the point in which remorse or regret means death. At this point, just think of it in your head. Of course, there's high chance that you'll be killed in this situation, but if you figure out how to survive with a good group of people, stick with them. Survival is what you'll be worrying about at this point.
Now, the 50% chance that by now everything is just like it is now, and it's as perfect as I've listed above the war, then make sure you get into a good college.
Make a good amount of money, have a kid, and don't be greedy. Spoil your kid, but not too much. If your kid wants to waste his life like you did, let him, but not as much. Anyway, off that topic, the current next-gen consoles are the PS3, the Wii, and the XBox 360. I'd love to know what they are in that time, if it isn't full virtual reality.
Do you still live in the US? That'd be alright, but if you can still stay in contact with all of your friends and have the money and are prepared, move out to a more stable country in Europe. If the US is dandy and is fine with the new president, then don't.
Another thing, make the best out of life. Having fun and making friends is my current views on making the best of life, but also making sure it doesn't suck and you aren't poor is another good view on what a good life is.
If you're still a gaming / computer addict, make sure you have a good rig by now.
Since this software will be out-dated by then in the future, this is our current level of technology that most gamers have:
The 8800's and the 2900's are the top DX10 graphics cards, and people are currently using dual and quad cores, though single cores are still useful. The average clock speed is 2.0-3.0GHz.
RAM is usually, for good gamers, 2GB - 4GB.
For a bit of humor : Is Spore out yet? If it is, is it still fun and badass? I can't wait to see what games and stuff will be in the future, if the graphics can get beyond Crysis, then beyond 100% realistic graphics, what is there next? I think gameplay will be the next focus after that, and there won't be that much evolution in graphics cards. Actually, that should be around the time you receive this message, as that is about when the Crysis graphics era will be about over. Also, is Starcraft 2 as badass as everyone thought as well? Probably not, people will still probably play SC1. But, if SC2 does make it, did you hear anything about SC3? If not, what's with SC2? How amazing is it really? Was it a 100% positive to happen, or was it canned like SC: Ghost? Is there a Diablo 3 yet?
Talk to you later. Hopefully you're ready for the big life, after you turn 18. There's bound to be something major happening, I just sense it.
The only thing I don't find particularly assuring is that you'll actually get this email. I pray to the greater power that you receive this message, as I wouldn't like this message's questions to be unanswered in my mind, and I'll want to know what the time is I'm messaging you in will be comparable to, will it be much less advanced, or will it be less balanced, more balanced, etc? I dunno what I'm saying at this point, the effects of my can of monster are wearing off, I guess you'll receive, or not receive, this message, when you're 18.
P.S. - DON'T FORGET TO SEND A COPY OF THIS MESSAGE, AND A NEW MESSAGE, TO YOURSELF TWO YEARS IN THE FUTURE OF WHICH YOU RECEIVE THIS IF YOU CAN.
