Dear FutureMe,
Because I have changed so much in the past 50 years of living, it is hard for me to even imagine what your life is like. If, at age 20, I had tried to imagine what I would be doing now, I would have been very wrong: and very surprised. But I will try and give it my best guess.
How was I right and how was I wrong?
This is how I picture your life.
You have been at your current employer for the past 5 years, and you really love your job.
You have also started to establish a small following for your poetry: in fact, you have gotten a "real publisher" interested in your book.
Your partner has become very involved in selling at crafts festivals, an original item that either she or you created. This was something that allowed you to discover the fact you love working with your hands creating things of beauty.
Both of you have new health issues: perhaps you have more visual problems than in the past. But you have not let this stop you.
You still have cats: 4 cats, all black. You recently totally redid the kitchen and bathroom.
You are taking classes in the evening at a community college: I don't know in what, but some new interest you are exploring.
Your hair is gray, but after one experiment in dying it, you decided to let it go silver, and braid it.
You continue to view life as an adventure and a learning experience, with new things around the corner.
