Dear Pradeep Kumar,
First of all, I would like to wish you Many more Happy Returns of the Day. You will be turning 26 today and my best wishes to you. I have learnt a lot this year (2025) and I sincerely believe you would have too (2025-26). My only wish, the moment I am writing you this letter is to, make your future as bright as possible; which means that the onus is on me, to make that happen for you.
You know something, I tend to think romantically about this whole lifecycle of parents helping their children become the best versions of themselves, by sacrificing their own desires and wants. The children will have brighter futures, only through the sacrifices of their parents. Perhaps, it applies to our future selves too. Only If I work hard in my present, will you (the future me) have a shot at having a better future. So I make this promise to you that I will do everything within my power to make your future as bright and fruitful as possible.
But does that mean, my present is grim? No, it is not. It is for sure, a lot difficult to face some sort of adversity every day, but I know for sure, that this too shall pass. I have a lot of deadlines, unwritten research works, and a hell of a lot of unachieved ambition. But I hope you won't have the same concerns like me. You know, there was a time when I used to think that progress in life, was just about being happy and joyous all the time. Now I realize that, existential progress is about facing new challenges only. I don't have the same worries I had two years back. But that doesn't mean that I am free of worries. I just have them new. Always keep this in mind.
I won't take too much of your time, so I will end this letter with my final wish regarding your future. My sincere hope for you is that you find peace and harmony in your life. Don't waste your time thinking about your pains and the past. The future will always be bright for you. Take care of yourself. And take good care of your parents. Remain Curious and don't falter on learning something new everyday. I sincerely hope (don't mind If I keep repeating this term) that you achieve everything you wanted in life and keep passing this good will to yourself every year.
Good Bye.
Yours Sincerely,
Pradeep Kumar Sriram
