Dear FutureMe,
(this is an assignment from PC English, so don't be lazy and read it)
A happiness project is a plan that involves setting goals for yourself that often improve your happiness or well-being. Typically, the structure of a happiness project is to reflect on your current situation–such as relationships, hobbies, interests, work, etc.–, and then identify areas for improvement to produce a better sense of fulfillment. This idea was founded by Gretchen Rubin, a bestselling author, who wrote a book about her happiness project.
As of now, I would say my life is very stable and going the way I would like it to go. Even so, I feel there could be things that could be improved. For one, I wish I could still have done sports. Even though sports took a huge toll on my time for schoolwork, I was thrilled being surrounded by my teammates and just being on the court playing volleyball. Though that really cannot be “improved” since it is something in the past, perhaps I could improve my volleyball skills by playing in college.
Speaking of college, my dream college is Stanford Law School. With a low acceptance rate of 4%, I dream of attending this school for its law program as well as for its sports. As I previously mentioned, I used to play volleyball. I would like to continue playing for a college or just for fun. Though I have only seen clips of their volleyball team, considering they are ranked no.5 in the NCAA, you can already assume that they are amazing. As for my dream city, which is completely different from my dream college location, I wish to visit Dubai, U.A.E. one day. Dubai is a beautiful city with gorgeous beaches and humongous skyscrapers. I would love to see the Burj Khalifa–the tallest structure in the world– in person and try new foods like falafel or knafeh. Also, Dubai is the home to one of my friends, and I would love to experience a festival with him.
In the span of 3 years, I switched my dream career/job. When I was in 8th grade, I wanted to be a marine biologist after I saw an animated movie about 2 marine biologists. Then, in 9th grade, I wanted to become a lawyer. There is no reason behind this, but I have been very interested in the law route ever since I took a criminal justice class in 8th grade. I hope to become a criminal defense lawyer and defend those who were wrong/help people get lower sentences. The steps to achieve this dream of mine are to 1) get my AA degree, so I can transfer to a four-year university to get a bachelor's degree. 2) Take the LSAT. 3) Apply to a Law School. 4) Pass the bar. 5) Get licensed. 6) Become a lawyer! This looks easier said than done, but with a large amount of studying and prepping, I believe this dream can become a reality.
Attending Porterville College is plenty of help. Taking this course is helping me with getting my AA degree. This is basically helping me out in the long run, because everyone knows that to become a lawyer takes a lot of years in school. So, if anything, attending Porterville College is helping me with at least taking off a bit of years of school.
Happiness can look different for everyone, from receiving a good grade on an assignment to your favorite sports team winning a game. Happiness can come from anything. To me, happiness is finding joy in everyday moments. I generally like to live in the moment and try to bring joy to others. So, for me, bringing a smile or a laugh to others represents happiness to me. From a personal perspective, taking care of your physical and mental well-being is a major part of someone's happiness. By this, I mean getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, managing stress, and engaging in activities that you enjoy.
There are so many things in my life that make me happy, namely, talking about my dream career. It gets me excited thinking about the future. Other things that make me delighted are my family, friends, dog, religion, and just life in general. I really like where I am in life. Even though my schedule is packed, I can still find the time to do my hobbies. It may seem stable, but some things could be improved, things that can make me happier. I think if I received a package, I would be happy since I have something to look forward to. Recently, I placed an order for two plushies, but the seller canceled my order. I would be happier if the seller communicated with me instead of canceling the order because I had been looking forward to the plushies.
