A letter from Apr 11th, 2021

Time Travelled — almost 5 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe, I'm sitting down in my room right now, thinking about so many things and how in five years when you receive this letter you'll be hopefully sitting in your classroom instead. I can't believe I'm about to be a junior in college, it's weird because it feels like I just graduated high school a few months ago, like come on I'm just a 19 year old girl with so many dreams and goals in life that I I feel like I still need to achieve. It's 2021, Covid-19 it's still a thing, as well as racism, injustice and people fighting for their rights. Our school system is broken and it somehow doesn't change for the better. Social Justice seems like it's never going to change, there's a lot of inequality in our schools and the teachers don't seem to do anything about it. So this is for you, I really hope you teach your students about social justice and the importance of it, remind them every day that we're all equal and we're all one. Make sure they understand the importance of equality and that we treat everyone the same, there's no more or less. That our background culture, our race, our gender, and our socioeconomic status doesn't make us any different from others. Don't ever stop teaching them and reminding them that they matter, and that being treated with equality and knowing about their social rights is important because you will only prepare them for their future. Oh and please make sure you always make them feel welcome, happy and comfortable in your classroom! I really hope you've achieved all your goals you wanted a few years ago, keep making mom and dad proud for me.
