Dear FutureMe,
This email documents a few of the theories I have for the future. We'll see how they turn out.
Ethanol is not a sustainable fuel substitute. When a gallon of gasoline costs around $8-$10 per gallon, synthetic gasoline created by liquefying coal will become hugely popular. Those who invested in it will be very wealthy.
Today's we think about Moore's Law in regards to CPU clock speed. However, in the future the number of core will be significant. Today we are impressed with quad-core processors, but CPU's will have hundreds, even thousands of cores eventually. Of course there is a huge challenge in scheduling all of them, but this should not affect the general trend.
