A letter from the past
Dear Me,
I love you so much. It has been a real honor and blessing to have spent the last 30 years with you. Growing, struggling, surviving, thriving. All of it.
I could talk about all 30 years, and another time we can. But let's just talk bout the last 4 years. You have been through literal hell and back, and you did it with grace. You stepped into the role of single motherhood, and fought for the physical and emotional safety of you and your babies like no one else could. You survived what most of your friends can't even wrap their head around, and you came out the other end on top.
No, you don't pretend that your life is easy or that it's what you envisioned it would be. But damn girl!! You are amazing!! You make your life beautiful despite the flaws. You work hard, and you come home and find the time to make precious memories with your boys, DESPITE STILL ongoing court battles with your relentless ex. You have figured out how to LIVE and how to thrive despite a real and persistent adversary in your life. And I love you for that. Your boys are the luckiest things on the planet to have you as their mother and guardian.
I'm so proud of you for taking care of your mental health, for being diligent in making a new life for yourself even though it has been hard, for not closing yourself off to dating despite the dumpsterfire it has been, and for showing up for yourself every day.
Thank you for becoming the person I can count on. I love you! Keep going, keep thriving, keep healing.
I love you! And Happy Valentines Day! 💖
