Dear Me,

I've tried starting this letter five times now and I deleted every single entry. I didn't realize how difficult this would be for me, but I can't say I'm surprised given our history. At times it feels like I'm battling you and neither of us will ultimately win. But you are not my adversary, you are my greatest ally. It's about time I write a love letter to my ally.

You have a good heart, one that's been shattered so many times and yet still keeps beating. You constantly put others above yourself, even if it ends with you being hurt. You have a heart for caring about those around you, and you don't even acknowledge it. You offer to help others even when you're struggling. Even when it's not reciprocated, you put yourself out there for those you love and care for, going out of your way to make them happy. You care so much for so many people, even those you barely know, and I love that about you.

You're determined and you make calculated moves, always thinking of the future outcome. You see an obstacle and, though you may cry, you pick yourself up and push through. Nothing will stand in the way of you reaching your aspirations. I admire that about you. You fight good, kid. I sometimes wonder how you're still standing given the cards you've been dealt. No challenge is too much for you, even if at the times the mountains are larger than the eye can see. Stand your ground because you've fought so hard to get where you are, and you belong there. You've grown and learned from every lesson life has thrown at you. Don't you ever give up or forget what you've overcome.

You are worthy of love, you are worthy of compassion, you are worthy of success. You are on the right path to where you're meant to be. You've been broken so many times, but you still got up and kept fighting. You are beautiful, you are kind, you are strong. I love you so very much, my darling.

Despite everything that has happened and everyone that has hurt you, you’re still here. I am proud of you. Remember that your well-being matters too, because you deserve love even if you don't feel like you do. Don't ever think you have to change for anyone, your authentic glow is the most beautiful part of you.
