A letter from the past

Dear Jennifer,

You have so much going on in your life and sometimes it feels like it’s too much to bear. You feel like it’s always a fault of your own and take too much responsibility for the negatives that happen to you or the people you find in life who don’t like you for who you are. However, a small part of me loves that part of you.

Weird to say, huh? Yea… I love that you care so much so that you are willing to take responsibility for things that are beyond your control. You try your best to see the good in people or make excuses for them, no matter how they may make you feel. HOWEVER, I need you to stop. We need you to stop. You hear from others that you are a light and you make their day as you dance in school. Little do they know you have to pep yourself up most mornings to do that, lately. But none the less that is what I would love nothing more…..for you to finally feel that light within you for yourself.

Yea, we jam out to Andy music every day and I absolutely love that about you! But what I love more is that you really try to soak in all the beautiful lyrics and apply them to your life, but there’s just that one piece that seems to be missing. The piece that is missing is the part where you don’t love yourself enough to stop taking the responsibility of the things that are not yours to own. You drain yourself each time you do. You are not kind to yourself in these moments and it’s not fair.

I am proud of person you are. You are hardworking, dream driven, an awesome mom and wife, and a great friend. Even after all the adversity you have pushed through to be who you are today. I am proud that you are someone who loves to lift others up, but now it’s time to lift yourself up. It’s time to focus on your heart a bit more. Your heart matters to me.

I wish I could get that through to you. I love you enough to call you out on all the crap that you say to yourself behind closed doors. It’s all far from the truth, so STOP saying it. It breaks me when the negative words spill out from your mouth. I love you enough to challenge you to do better to apply those Andy lyrics to uplift yourself along with the continued act of uplifting others. You are just an important as the people you care very much for. BE DAMN PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE AND FINALLY LOVE YOURSELF!!!

I LOVE YOU, I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU, AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. Please start to love me too.

Love,
ME
