A Two Years Check-in

Time Travelled — almost 2 years

Peaceful right?

Dear FutureMe,
In four years, none of this will matter. Once you have graduated college, you won't look for people to care for you nor will you hold open the door hoping someone in particular will walk through. You won't care about anyone but yourself. You will stand on your own two feet, after you have graduated, and look to the life ahead. No one will look for you or care. Graduation and everything else will be spent alone, so it's up to you to do that for yourself. You will try until you succeed and you will live. But this is a checkpoint letter for the time before that. In two years time, you will read this and then you will draft a response.
This is what I hope will be in store for you in the next few years, no one else mattering but you. Why? Because your life, just as it has for the past two years when you receive this, will be spent alone. Today (really it was a week ago) marks that. You will do the work to study abroad. If you want it, you have to do what's necessary to get there. This isn't high school anymore, what you do matters. You will find a major you are passionate about and stick to it. You'll try. If you don't particularly like it, that's alright, just do well. You need to make money so look to find one that is good for you. What is our current major? Does it accomplish that? I'm not going to write out a list of what I want just yet. I think I will later on in this but for now I have this to say.
If you want to make money then do it. This is your time to figure out the rest of your life and where you want to be. What state do you want to live in? Where do you want to go? Have you taken any steps to make that happen? I don't care where anyone else is right now. This isn't about them, it's about you. For once in your life please just focus and care about yourself. Your career is what matters.
What hobbies do you enjoy? You need more than simply writing. Paint, read, play games, study languages, learn more history, archery, photography, draw, craft things, garden, play soccer. Discover more. Be a well rounded individual. Other people have these as hobbies/enjoyments and they do them wellPainting, drawing, singing, playing guitar, skateboarding, DJ-ing, learning French, reading, writing, dancing, swimming, martial arts, playing games, soccer, gardening. They are impressive. You aren't. So yes, some people will always be better. That is, unfortunately, a fact. They just are. They will be prettier, more well rounded, and more educated. However, that doesn't mean you can't also achieve things. If you want something then go for it. Your only skill cannot be your ability to craft language. What do you want to do with your life?
I hope you can answer that when you receive this. Achieve some things.
Signing off, past you
