Time Travelled — almost 5 years

money, elk, God and family

Peaceful right?

It's been 5 years. . . First, the NOT SO important stuff. So you did great in 2005. How the heck are your stocks doing now? Today the Dow closed down 2.49 at 10959.87 What's it at now? S&P 500 was up 1.55 at 1287.61 So, now that your rich beyond belief and can afford a second home, a full auto M-16 and own 2 or 3 businesses, what are your plans that I never thought of? Do you have $50K in an account just for fun? Are you teaching people how to get out of debt? You've had 2 Masters degrees for a while now. Are they paying off, or were they a waste of time? Are you working on a PhD yet? Did you leave Texas as planned? Now for the important stuff. (print this and take it with you on your next hunt.) Are you out hunting elk and enjoying nature and the gifts of God? Are you standing on a mountain, just you and God, watching the sun rise? Are you looking forward to a day of hunting, far away from whatever the world thinks is important now? Your son, Miles, is not old enough to be there with you yet. Is he back at camp with his mother, Angela, or somewhere else? Next year he should be about the right age to start hunting. Is he excited? How long have you been fishing together now? Does his mother fish with you sometimes? How much time do the three of you make to just go out in the woods, mountains, wherever, and just be together? Is it enough? How often do the three of you watch the sun rise and set. How many camp fires have you sat around lately? Do you have a good place for your 16" telescope, 100 miles in the middle of nowhere? When you watch the sun set today, what will God say to you? What will you say to Him? Miles has just started to say "I love you, Daddy," What kind of things do you talk about now? Pack a lunch tomorrow and go out into the woods with Miles. Don't take one single electronic device. Teach him to be a real man who understands the value of life. Teach him how money is just a sideshow to the real life he has before him. Show him the value of just walking alone in nature with nothing but a backpack. I know this e-mail is late. I know you have already done these things. I just wanted to remind you of when you planned them.
